My purchase decision hinges on the quality of the book. What's the quality like? Is it simply photographs, or is there an essay or historical and session information?
Since I'll have to shell out to iTunes for "All Down The Line" and to Eagle Rock for the proper DVDs, I'm wondering whether this can be justified...
If you want to see what the book looks like there is a vid on youtube of a guy opening his deluxe set and he thumbs through the book so you can get a pretty good idea of what it is. Vid was uploaded today so should still be there. The photos in the book seem to be, with a few exceptions, the same old photos from Nellcote and the 72 tour that we have been looking at for years ! It seems to me that this set is NOT for the discerning Stones fan with a particular interest in 1972 but for the casual fan who just wants to get a glimpse of what it was all like. If you fall into the former category, as I do, don't waste your money.
No help on the book but it looks as if you'll have to buy the entire 2 disc Exile to get the alt.take of All Down The Line from iTunes. It's listed as "album only" at the moment. The sample sounds cool.
