Songs without musical intros

For some reason I've always wondered why the Beatles had so many songs without a musical introduction (cry Baby Cry, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Help!, Can't Buy Me Love, All My Loving, Blackbird, just to name a few). In comparison, it seems that the Stones have had very few (Dear Doctor, Ruby Tuesday, Dandelion, are the only ones that come to mind right now) that simply jumped right into the verse. This has left me wondering if the Beatles couldn't come up with an intro to some of their songs or if this was intentional. The Stones have, without a doubt, the biggest catalog of incredible and memorable intros in music history. Can anyone add to the list of Stones songs without musical intros?

Mother's Little Helper

You Cant Always Get What you Want - a choral intro, which is quite unusual.

This is quite an interesting thread, and one I've never thought about before.

"Honest I Do" is another one.

"You Can Make It If You Try"

"If You Need Me"

Cant think of any others.

Theres a few that start with music and backing vocals at the same - Thief In the Night, Biggest Mistake etc

Mother's Little Helper actually had an instrumental intro before it was edited.

There's an unedited instrumental outtake version of it circulating. It's really a interesting listen, it starts out almost exactly like Sittin' On A Fence.

A count-in does or doesn't count?
"Sway"

These also probably "don't count":

We Love You
(footsteps and chains)

She's A Rainbow
(Rugby Match)

Why?

"Start Me Up" starts up with a guitar intro...
The OP means songs that don't have an instrumental intro

<< A count-in does or doesn't count?

Sway has a couple of bars of guitar intro after the count-in

We Love You has piano after the sound effects.

Some very interesting observations you all have made. I never even thought about the Stones songs that had sound effects as the intro (Rainbow, We Love You). I don't have my copy of Satanic Majesties at hand, but wasn't there some kind of talk or cheering prior to the start of On With the Show?

George Martin may have something to do with the intros
to those Beatles songs. Can't Buy Me Love is a good example.
He changed it to where it started on the chorus rather than the verse.
It's a great songwriting idea, actually; you need a good intro.
The song Help! wouldn't have worked if it started with the verse.
With that chorus, it pulls you in,

Interesting thread!

Bending the rules just slightly What To Do,All Sold Out and Tie You Up start with very brief drum parts(are drums strictly musical?) and Shine a Light sounds like it came straight in before that brief effects intro was tacked on

Can't think of anymore

For an non English native speaker as I am ,musical = instrumental for me ....
So ,what does mean musical ? Voices only ?

I think the keyword here is "without" winking smiley

Ruby Tuesday

I don't see why "We Love You" would qualify here. It has a long piano intro

Not only does 'Help!' start with the vocal, but it's b-side ("I'm Down") does as well.

I'm Down. That's a great one! Also good with Aerosmith, in fact.

Right, it doesn't really qualify... Only if you consider the sound efx before the piano as part of the song. Same with She's a Rainbow.

You can consider "Something Happened To Me Yesterday" as well... True, it has a short instrumental theme at the beginning. But the rest of the song starts right in with vocals.
