Sounds like a garage band rehearsal. Sloppy, and not in a good way...I was at one of the Forum shows, not sure which one. It was my first Stones show.

And people thought they were charging a lot of money back then! For THAT!?? Almost makes the recent tours seem excellent.

Why does it sound like Charlie has never played this song before?

Could it be that this is a rehealsel instead of a live song just loosen up

Possibly. I would have remembered if they played JJF this badly. I had the boot "Charlie Watts and His Rolling Stones' from those shows. Speckled vinyl, soundboard recording. Anybody else remember that one?

Just goes to show that Keith and Ronnie's guitar relationship was not one made in heaven.

They discovered the new art of Tangling - or completely failing to connect or have any concordant or co-rhythmic empathy. Quite an oustanding achievement. Yes, and coupled with no reference to the drummer who is busy chasing his own tail.

Poor Bill, busy ploughing his lone, reliable furrow. Plough on, oh detached sagacious one.
('The loneliness of the far-distant bassplayer').

But let's look on the bright side - It could only get better!

Mick, please change into something decent, then come back.
Ronnie, you're new here. Why don't you sit this one out?
Charlie, this one's called "Jumpin' Jack Flash". You really don't remember?
Billy, those portable keyboard things are going to look really silly in 30 years. Trust me.
Keith, please finish tuning. We'll wait.
Bill, keep doing what you're doing, you're good.

It sucks so bad the management must have forced them to play Sympathy, good thing to one of the best ever performances of SFTD. Billy Preston is scaring my ears the most, and either Ollie Charlie or both are a close second. Being a rythym guitarist, solely on the fact that I can't rehearse with the band. (I am the better guitarist, but that's another story) I am used to tuning out guitars. So the guitars may very well be worse.

Really like how Keith changes guitars for the last verse

As bad as this performance is, this is probably not even close to the worst performance of JJF ever. For one, the late show for the CNIB benefit is even worse. First show at JFK in '81 is also pretty awful.

No your memory doesn't betray you
That vinyl features the 2nd and 5th Los Angeles show, top-notch performances

The clip posted by hbwriter comes from the 3rd LA show - and it's the definate worst concert of 1975 - they were completely shot at that show
Posting a clip like that proves nothing of the TOTA 1975 tour. It's useless

Every band experiences guitars out of tune time and again. Not funny at all, I'll tell you smiling smiley Ronnie is working hard here, to get this one going - while Keith desperately tries to tune up.

If I remember correctly, there are some songs from Hyde Park that are even worse than this train wreck winking smiley

Thanks for clearing that up. They played quite well at the Forum show I attended, even if they went on three hours late.
