Carol seems to be played live, and very well so!
Leaves you with the wish to hear a live rendition of Tell me too.

Great. Dig Brian playing that chunky rhythm. Imagine Taylor trying to do it. Thankfully, Woody came along to save the day and give us back that double rhythm.

Give me a break. Apparently you never heard "Get Yer Ya Yas Out". Who do you think was playing rhythm on those two Berry songs...Woody?

It is one thing to appreciate the contributions of Brian Jones and Ronnie Wood. However, to imply that Taylor was a step down from Jones is beyond historical revisionism. Keith insisted that by the time of his death, Jones had lost interest in the guitar. In 1989 Bill Wyman stated that Taylor was the most accomplished guitar player the Stones ever had.

Very nice clip! Thank you.I knew about the way Bill was holding his bass guitar in the early days. But here! The neck is right in front of his face! Really 'hugging' it!

One can prefer whomever one wants. But it is sheer idiocy to suggest Taylor couldn't play "chunky rhythm" when the evidence to the contrary is there for anyone bothering to listen (or watch, in the case of the clip above and the Gimme Shelter film). Although I liked Brian, his rhythm is not all that solid at times. Chuck berry-type stuff wasn't his forte. He was more of a Delta blues guy on guitar.

Yes, regretful. But it's hard to let foolish comments like Carnaby's stand uncorrected. It was worth it to view the "Carol" clip from both eras of the band though. Tempo change is really something.

Indeed, this ''Taylor sucks at rhythm'' myth needs to be knocked on the head.

Even as a mainly Brian Jones era fan I can say that Mick Taylor could play any of Brian Jones guitar parts in his sleep, the same cannot be said the other way around, but that does not that matter.

Both Brian and Mick had their own way of playing and both players did some very cool things. smiling smiley
