Itunes US Top 300:

67 (--) Wild Horses - Susan Boyle
- No Stones

It looks like a safe Top 3 debut in UK and a good start in US with a full week of sales, Jagger/Richards are on course for their biggest hit in two decades.
Sadly, it seems that no one is buying the original version...

thanks georgelicks - i grasp the sentiment behind the eyerolling
but hit cover versions is what songwriters hope for.
Keith once noted that Jagger/Richards have "shot themselves in the foot as songwriters"
but giving virtually all their songs to a group as inimitable as the Rolling Stones :E

How did it do on the charts as a single in 1995?

The Greatest rock n Roll band in the World lowering themselves to riding on the coat tails of some old biddy's success on a crappy talent show.

How embarrassing.

so true Gazza. They probably don;t even know that it's happening. At least, that's what I hope.

Maybe they have some sort of computer app that tells them whenever a cover version of their song is somewhat successful so then they can take advantage of it!

"Wild horses" will be the next no. 1 in Uk, for sure. A great song----original from a Band "called "rolling Stones" 38 years ago.

I cant imagine they're really competing for the same audience, to be honest.

the reason the Stones' release isnt selling is quite simple. Anyone who wants the song already probably owns it several times over.

Stones fans already have Wild Horses several times over.

Susan Boyle fans want to buy the 'SuBo' (yes, that's what the UK press call her) version.

Simple!

SuBo0s version is one of the worst things my ears ever witnessed....
a slaughter of a beautiful tune, a massacre. all thumbs and everything else DOWN!
nothing against that woman, but what she (or her producer) have done to this fantastic track should get punished...
@#$%&' celin dion shit!
so enough of spreading hatred for today! ;-)

I don't like it either but just don't listen to it and no I do not think that Mick and Keith are sinking to a low level. WTF cares if someone covers a song. If you don't like it put on the original!
