UK Daily Express:

KEITH RICHARDS IS READY TO ROCK WITH OR WITHOUT MICK JAGGER

FRUSTRATED: Keith Richards

Saturday June 5,2010

KEITH Richards has spoken out about his frustration with Sir Mick Jagger for holding up the Rolling Stones’s new album, saying he is so desperate to work he’s considering touting his talents elsewhere.

It has been five years since the sixtysomething rockers released their last album A Bigger Bang and legendary guitarist Keith, 66, is anxious to get back in the studio.

Promoting his autobiography, entitled Life, in a US interview, Keith says of the next album: “I’m trying to find out when it will happen myself.

“I sent a note to Charlie Watts [the Stones drummer] saying, ‘Should I put an ad in a music magazine - guitar player for hire?’ I’ve got to do something.’”

He claims that the delay is down to Jagger, 66.

“It doesn’t matter which band, you have got to have the frontman wanting to do it.

“You can’t shove the lead singer into it. I learned that many years ago. I usually wait for Mick to call me. When he does, it’s because he’s got an itch and wants to go to work.”

However Keith is hardly at a loose end. He’s reported to be returning as dad to Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow in the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film next year. Depp is also shooting a film documentary about his idol Keith.

The guitarist recently reportedly chatted with members of his solo enterprise, the X-Pensive Winos, about working on new material.

He says: “I work all over the place and I like to keep my hand in. Have guitar, will travel. Working with the right cats, it’s never work. You don’t work a guitar. You play it.”

Speaking about his book, which is released in the autumn, Keith said: “I thought, maybe it’s the right time. We can leave out some of the naughty bits.”

I don't think Keith is ready... yet....as he indicated on the Jimmy Fallon Show.
As an optimist, that could change in a couple months.

Ronnie Wood has a new album coming out.....maybe Keith and Ron could do a few shows together to get Keith warmed up and working again.

I really wouldn't read much if anything into this. From everything I am hearing Jagger is getting ready to start the corporation...Uh, I mean the band up soon.

That process usually takes about a year or so. I'd expect to see the Stones on the road and with a new album sometime around late summer/early fall of 2011.

Keith will be a 14 y.o. brat all his life... ("mwew I wanna go to the movies NOW!")

That's why I like him so much!

That's what I thought. The Express is just touting old quotes as news.

Could be Mick thinking: When is it most profitable to go back on the road with a new CD in hand. The issue is probably - is it a mega tour on big stadiums or a smaller scale tour. A mega tour needs to be well planned - both artistically and moneywise, also maybe beating the U2 stageshow!! That's how Mick is thinking.

Keith probably just wants to go on the road on a smaller scale tour where profitable or not profitable is a lesser worry. The Winos tour was much easier to plan than Big Bang and basically no financial worry neither big income.

That's what is dividing Mick and Keith - no fighting like mid 80'ies but difference in thinking. Business versus music.

Seems Jagger has been very busy; Keith just needling Jagger in the press; enough to get the tour happening. Man do I hope it is anything BUT a mega anniversary tour. 70 year olds running in a stadium. but it probably will be.

No stadium tours - in fact I think I'd rather see the Winos than a mega Stones tour right now.

Right, pleane no stadium - let's have some cool small places and throw lots of Blues and some Soul covers in for good measure. We do not need Brown Sugar, It's Only R & R, Satisfaction, JJF runout again....That is gettin' old.

I think he's listening to PMS and reminds him how the Stones sounded in the early 7-tees. Enjoy the old records Keith, and forget it, go solo and forget the Stones.Don't make a fool out of yourself.

I'd rather be a Wino than see a Stones stadium show.
