How many unreleased "finished" songs in the basement?

How many unreleased "finished" songs will The Stones have in the basement?
We saw now with the re-release of Exile that more then half of the bonus tracks had recent overdubs and vocals added.
We know some songs, that were released on boots, where you can hear that they were finished but for some reason not released.
Songs I mean are for example:
- Criss Cross Man
- Drift Away
- Your Precious Love

I would love to see a Rarities CD with real unreleased songs without recent overdubs.
How many will there exist do you think?

Add Keith's version of "We Had It All" and "Let's Go Steady". Great, finished tracks from the ER sessions.

'No spare parts' is 'finished' ?? eye popping smiley

Lots of those songs mentioned above arent anywhere near finished (in the versions that have been circulated anyway) and its mere speculation to believe that many of them exist in a more complete form.

Btw 'Criss Cross' and 'Save Me' are the same song.

'Claudine' may be finished but they still CANT release it.

A quite high % of the songs that are completed happen to be covers, which is probably why they WERE able to do a complete finished take to begin with.

To answer the original question, there's no way of finding out without access to the band's archives. In a recording career stretching from 1962 to 2005, only a fraction of what has been recorded has been leaked. However, if what HAS been leaked is any yardstick, the amount of songs that were properly finished and then omitted from official releases is relatively small. Aside from alternate takes of released songs, the vast majority of what is in circulation are jams, rough demos with guide vocals or instrumentals.

At the risk of sounding pedantic, a 'rarities' CD wouldnt have ANY unreleased songs.

It would consist of officially released, but hard-to-find songs. Something which was the main failing of the 'Rarities' CD released by EMI in 2005, as several songs appeared originally on releases that were so 'rare' that they had sold millions of copies and were still currently in print.

Gazza !"No Spare parts" may not be finished, but it is a fun song. IMO its better than the finished "Faraway Eyes". A song that I felt to be a little too tongue in cheek. As for "Finished songs", The unedited verisons from "A Bigger Bang" sound better than the released product. Its all a matter of preference. Thanks to Ross for mentioning two great songs "We had it all" and "Let's go steady."
