I saw the Strokes open for The Stones in DC in 2002. Frankly, I haven't thought about them since.

I adored the Strokes. Along with Stones and Beatles, they genuinly changed my life for the better.

I like The Strokes, but the show I saw was wayyy too short, maybe an hour at the most.

Whatever happened to those guys?

The Strokes are brilliant!! This album sounds kinda interesting too - extremely synthetic but Casablancas seems to use it in an interesting - hes a great melody writer. Looking forward to this but look forward to a Strokes album more!

The Strokes are great. Is This It? is an album I still listen to a lot and is wearing well for 8 years old. Seen them live a couple of times too - great band. Albert Hammond Jr's solo material is well worth tracking down (particularly the lovely 'yours to keep' lp) and looking forward to Julian's new stuff

Four of them have done a solo effort. Hammond's was pretty good; and I plan on checking Casablanca's out.

A breath of fresh air, short and sweet, great hooks good attitude , second album Room On Fire a bit samey, third First Impressions Of Earth is a far better album , more diverse and if I say so my a damn good listen.

Wasn't that something though, adotulip? That second album was exactly like the first; I got it, and was like "Why even bother?"

I love them, the last album was verging on a classic. I hope they come back with something so strong, rock n roll needs some good bands right now !!

Adored the debut album....disappointed by the 2nd album...
loved the 3rd album.

Good live band, too.

I was pretty much full-on obsessed with the group by the time of the Room ON Fire release, so whether it was as good as the debut or not, I was going to love it regardless. In hindsight, however, it’s a disappointment in comparison.

I missed the boat a bit with First Impressions of Earth, but it’s a very good album and showed the Strokes were capable and willing to move forward artistically.

It’s a shame they kind of trickled out after that release, but then, all those great groups from that glorious rock ‘n’ roll renaissance did the same: The Vines, The Datsuns, Hot, Hot Heat, The Darkness, etc.

I thought they were awful live when I saw them. Saw them in an arena, and they came on after 10 and were off by 11!

I saw them at The Alexandra Palace in 2003. I enjoyed the gig and was thrilled to be seeing my group live and in the flesh, but so, so wish I could have caught them a year-or-so earlier - Heaven in 2001, preferably.

That is what I was bitching about.
They sounded good, but I barely finished a drink before they were gone.

Remember? It can't be more than a couple of years since their latest album came out...
