according to my Professor at the University where I got my M.F.A.----My prof. said something like all the guys figured working in a factory was their future unless they became a teacher or something like that.... (and my Prof went to school w/ Mick in England)
Mick went to a grammar school, so he was never destined to be a factory worker. According to his brother, he was very focussed on his studies, which enabled him to enter the LSE. Presumably financial success was his goal.
He expressed a desire to enter politics when he was associated with the MP Tom Driberg.
In an interview, he said that if he hadn't been a rock musician, he definitely would have been involved in another aspect of show business, as an actor or a dancer. He said he was a show business person.
Here is a telling quote about how he sees himself:
'I didn't set out to be a stripper. No. I saw myself as a serious musician. But in the end, I was just another girl on the runway'.
Jagger allegedly wanted to be a journalist in his teens.
Much later, when he had reached his forever stardom, a TV rock critic (I think it was Philippe Manoeuvre) asked him if he would let his daughter date with a journalist
"No way, Jagger fired back. The journalists are too poor!"
He wanted to be a history teacher...there is an interview in 25X5 where he says it...but he follows it up with the line...something like this..."the only way to make money studying history is to become a history teacher and teach others about history".
