Here we have The world wide live debut of BROWN SUGAR (always wanted to hear this version - interesting how it's so much closer to the studio version than any to come in the future) and the complete GIMME SHELTER LIVE (rarely played on 1969 tour). Audio only but it's better than "silence only". Enjoy and lets hope for more - full concert on DVD would be nice

The opening chords of "Brown Sugar" sound goddamn delicious. Keith Richards IS god. The Stones truely were on fire that night (even though the nervous Jagger perhaps a bit too much emphasizies the fact that it is the first time ever...)

Is there "Jumping Jack Flash" from Altamont on youtube? Keith nails the riff stronger than ever there.

Man - how annoying is that chick that keeps singing/squealing throughout Gimme Shelter. She's like Yoko at RNR Circus.

WOW! That version of BS SWINGS so much, it's sounds so fresh. Raw. IMO one of the best versions i ever heard. Up there with the best of them!!

Who is drip feeding these amazing snippets from Altamont. No cassette recorder would have been able to capture such great quality in 69 so it is obviously a soundboard with mikes picking up the audience. Has it come from the original film reels?

What's the complete list of new tracks being added to the European version of Gimme Shelter? Does anyone know?

This is the first Ive heard BS from Altamont. I agree the opening chords sound Amazing. some parts of the song are a little sloppy but it doesn't matter, it sounds great. sounds like it got a good reaction from the crowd too. The chick singing with GS is annoying. hearing both clips is like listening to history in the making.

Mom, dad, step-dad, friends of the family all went to this. Last Waltz too. Pops remembers neither...I guess he really was there (or so the saying about the 60s goes).

In the early 70's Lance Loud wrote a column in Circus magazine. He mentioned one time how he or his brother taped Brown Sugar at Altamont.

They had a band, and they learned the song from the tape and started playing it. For the next year and a half until Sticky Fingers came out, they would tell whatever small crowds they attracted that it was a song they had written...!

Stuuning. Keith intro is fabulous and influenced I suppose by the"cool"tempo mood or maybe afraid to play it. I did not know that song "first time ever plaid did exist. To compete for the post of the year. That's History. Thanks

never fails to amaze: the stage was about 4 feet high. that 'Brown Sugar' is fantastic. Thanks for posting. they played so well under the worst circumstances.

That version of BS makes me wonder what would happen if they ever put a few knowledgeable fans in charge of sorting and helping them distribute the stuff in the vault.

JJF at Altamont on the next video is cool to hear as they are clearly under the influence of many things from many perspectives.
