Keith's 1950 Pontiac Silver Streak Convertible for sale on e-bay

Apparently the car that Keith used to go and score in/bring back the groceries for the family while living at Nellcote is up for sale for a paltry £50,000. It's being sold by a north London dealer. I presume that's a car dealer.

That's hardly worth the price, even with it's history.

Can someone please explain "Cherised number may be purchased with the vehicle?"

Thanks in advance!

Well, among many others no doubt. We all know he had a Bentley in the 60s but come to think of it what other cars has he owned?

On his log book it gives the address as Berners Street which was the address of Atlantic/Rolling Stones Records in the early 70s.

Obviously no pix around of Keith driving it.

Er, no, to be perfectly honest. Didn't they find him with some acid once - on the way home from the Bingley Hall Stafford gig in 76 after his car veereed off the road ? He may as well have been driving the Starship Enterprise.

I love the cars from the 50s but I agree with Edith Grove....Way too muchh $$ for that car, unless there is a large stash in the trunk! Otherwise it's probably a 15K-20K car.

I don't recognize that address - Berners Street. When did he live there or is that the address of one of the RS offices/lawyers or something?

Anyone know?

Thanks!

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Wasn't that with his Bentley on the M1 near Newport Pagnell, where he went off the road and into a field?
Some people may find me sad for saying this, but I have regularly driven past there on the M1 in the last several months and have tried to work out where it might have been. I remember there was a thread about it a while ago on this forum, before I became a member.

It was the London HQ for Atlantic Records. I remember going there in late 73 once to ask for some Stones promo stuff and got given the 69 US tour programme, a couple of great 10x8 promo shots taken at the Wembley Sept gigs and the tits poster from the 73 European tour. Very nice they were to me too.

This refers to the number plate (UXL 7). In the UK, it is possible buy number plates and transfer them. Pre-1963 registration plates with low numbers sell for crazy money.

I dont think Keiths the sort of person who likes to get a new car every time a new model comes out.He was asked once what sort of car he had and at the time this was a few years ago he said a 1978 Jaguar and had it from new.He may of had other cars to I dont know..the Jag may of just been his favourite. And also said he doesnt like driving unless he really has to.

Thanks for the explanation!

Where I live, they make us destroy the plates when they come off an old car.

Edith Grove..here ya can pay tens of thousands of dollars for a personalized number plate (a resold one) if it had JAGGER or ELVIS 1 on or something like that.I looked into buying one something close to Jagger there were a few options the only one I liked was JAGG4R..cost just a few hundred didnt buy it in the end.

I take it it must have been brought over to the UK (presumably used in London) after they left France since there's the French registration document but also the English one, which on it says "Date of first registration- 7/2/75" which would be when the vehicle was first registered in the UK. Here it has been originally registered in the UK with an "N" registration mark, which ran from Aug 74 to July 75, so that ties in with the date.

Apologies if I come across as a know it all there, but aside from the Stones my other main interest is vehicles, so this thread is interesting to me.

We call them "vanity plates" over here.

Here's the one from the "proctologist" episode of Seinfeld:

xke - that's a cool name, especially as we've talking about cars here. Inspired by The Who's Call Me Lightning perhaps? - the best ever ode to the Jaguar (XK) E-type.
