Interesting concept, Stones ballads. Many years ago I put a tape together for my mother to listen to after she said there was not one song the Stones ever made that was worth listening to. So, in the group's defense I made her a tape of the gentler side of the Stones (Backstreet Girl, You Better Move On, e.g.). Well, she ultimately recanted and said that they had some nice songs. This was back in the early to mid 70's, around the time when the band literally ruled the world of rock and many others patterned themselves after the Stones. She pictured them as pretty much nothing but straight forward rock 'n' roll. My mom had been raised on things like Guy Lombardo, Billie Vaughn, and Lawrence Welk (I can't imagine growing up during that time period!). Anyway, enough of my rambling. Nice thread, Havo!

I had some 60s tracks initially but decided that they weren't really BALLADS like we started getting with Winter, Till The Next Goodbye etc... And I purposely left Angie out - there are far better tunes than that that are ballads, obviously.

Oh yeah - thanks for liking my selection. I've had a ballads comp running for a while now. Think of how it could be part of a great box set - Rockers, Rollers, Blues & Ballads.

I know there are more ballads and it could very well make a very full double disc comp, maybe a triple with the 1960s tunes some people have mentioned.

SHIT! I knew I was leaving one out! I was drawing a blank! Yeah, that's a killer ballad there. Maybe I'll revise it a bit, see if I missed anything else ha ha.

AH yes, how could I forget " I Am Waiting!"...? Love that song! I think it needs to be a triple cd, like you said, and I think it would sell! Maybe we need to tell Mick!

A Stones Ballads album sounds like the concept of one of those cheesy things that labels churn out as a contractual obligation album, like "the Paul Young ballads album", "the Roxette ballads album", etc. No offense against these artists, but it feels boring to have only slow tunes on a compilation, when you could do more adventurous things in terms of a tracklist.

I'd recommend not forgetting about "Out Of Tears" and "Almost Hear You Sigh" and drop the studio version of "Streets Of Love" which is no more than an unfinished demo unfortunately.

Ive always been a big fan of what i call the Stones 'anti--ballad'
The band have a way of turning a ballad into a 'punky', 'tough' 'it's you not me' vibe.

Stupid Girl
I'd Much Rather Be With The Boys
No Use in Crying
All About You
Play with Fire
Heart of Stone
