Best song on Aftermath IMO. Doesn't the piano intro at the end sound like the Satisfaction riff?

Thanks, Shrimp for bringing it up.
Not on my vinyl-copy theres no PIB.

That's why I say 505 is without competition..
Such an amazin' boogie-groove in the intro...

Thanks for bringing it up, Shrimp
(I'm overwhelmed by agreeing!); And yup, Ville:
Put it in the setlist for Europe! Please start rehearsing.

Yeah Potted, it does. I always thought that that part was cool. Very rockin' tune IMO and would love to hear them play it one of these days. Maybe on the B-stage. smiling smiley

I should have added: The first Stones-LP I bought was Aftermath.
English issue. Next I got (still no idea how; after a party
it just was there) - GHS.

Fist personal (alas not concert-) memory is Benidorm 1982; dancing like maniacs
ma & my pal with all the cute Spanish gals around, to JJF &
Goin' To A Go Go... Hey, those were the days... With the European Stones fever.

I thought Mick wrote the lyrics on a delayed flight to the USA in early 1966.

FLIGHT 505
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

Well, I was happy here at home
I got everything I need.
Happy bein' on my own
Just living the life I lead.

Well suddenly it dawned on me
That this was not my life.
So I just phoned the airline girl
And said, Get me on flight number 505,
Get me on flight number 505.

Well, I confirmed my reservation.
Then I hopped a cab.
No idea of my destination
And feeling pretty bad.

With my suitcase in my hand.
In my head, my new life.
So then I told the airline girl
Well, get me on flight number 505,
Get me on flight number 505.
Alright.

Well, I sat right there in my seat.
Well, feeling like a king.
With the whole world right at my feet.
Of course I'll have a drink!

Well, suddenly I saw
That we never ever would arrive.
He put the plane down in the sea.
The end of flight number 505.
The end of flight number 505.
Alright.

They put the plane down in the sea.
The end of flight number 505.
The end of flight number 505.

not really - just thought the plane carrying Holly, the Big Bopper and Richie Valens was indeed Flight 505. And that the lyrics are clearly about a plane crash.

Love 505
But to me it's neck & neck with It's Not Easy, which also swings constantly.
505 never played live?
what about INE?

Re: Flight 505

I googled it:

You're right in 1959 Buddy crashed with flight 505
But also: the first Stones trip to the US in 1964 was on flight 505 (Bill is the source on this one)

On a soundtrack to an 80's movie called The Wild Life (if I remember correct)

If you like Flight 505, there's another airplane song from the same era:

"The Great Airplane Strike" by.....Paul Revere and the Raiders.

No, I'm not kidding.

Bro, hope your flight here is a lot better than the sad, sad, sad Flight number 505.
