Chris Farlowe's "Out of Time"

I spent a lot of time on airplanes yesterday (15 hours) so I listened to music on my computer. This has probably been said before but Farlowe's version of Out of Time is brilliant. I have listened to this song many times since it was originally released and have always liked it. But, listening to it through the Bose headphones made me appreciate the production even more.

His phrasing is unique and much different than the Stones' version (a good one as well). He really made it his own song. The man could sing! He is very soulful. (Was he a more respected singer in the UK than in the US?) At times the song sounds much like a Phil Spector-esque "wall of sound" production, particularly the chorus. The more I listened to it, the more new things I heard.

This has to be one of the best covers of a Jagger-Richards song ever.

Anybody else like this version of Out of Time?

I totally agree! Farlowes "Think" is a Wilson Pickett style workout-fantastic!

Mick's guide vocal over the backing track of Farlowe's cover of "Out of Time" is the leadoff track on METAMORPHOSIS.

He usually plays it as an encore when playing solo. Also tours with Hamburg City Blues Band and Colosseum. Magnificent singer plus magnificent music(ians)! Still does very good records!

A post of the Flowers version is a deserving moment. It's one of the Stones' greatest recordings.
