They sold themselves with Breakfast in America. Popular album, but a huge step down from their previous work. The same direction Genesis would later move in. But they both sold a lot of records.
I was never a fan, but I did enjoy so 'progressive' rock in the earlier-mid 70s (more like Yes, ELP and in the early 70s, Procol Harum....Supertramp was pretty lightweight, though I did like 'School').
I did see that Roger Hodgson of Supertramp is playing nearby, in Niagara Falls shortly. His second trip thru in a few months.

Another example of the xenophobic nature of this board. Whenever it's not connected to the Stones its all terrible, horrendous, awful and what more.
From Indelibly Stamped to Breakfast they made some terific pop albums. Their songs are truly showcases on how to write hit records, but there's always a true foundation of musicianship.

Musicianship and writing hit records has nothing to do if like them or not.
I think Supertramp are great musicians but I don't like to listen to them.

Supertramp was/is a good band. Always enjoyed listening to them. A change of pace from some of the usual stuff. School and Goodbye Stranger being their best songs.

Mathjis - I just don't like Supertramp. There are plenty of posts on this board about other bands that I like. I love the Beatles some people here hate them.

had a couple of their lps back in the day. you really didn't need to buy their albums back then - they ruled the airwaves....very much a part of the soundtrack of the 70's....
