OT: Guilty Pleasures And Wrong Bands

Hi,

Who more on this board feel ya 're way too much & way too often
into wrong bands, that is, what is generally not seen as
"Stones-fanship-compatible".. ?

Would be interesting with your thoughts here.

As I see it, band or styles or origin who are definetely seen as accepted
here are: US, black or white (maybe not 'latino'); Singers/songwriters
or most band which soil were the Brit Invasion or the 50s-60s.
or bands/Artists as Dylan, Springsteen, Zepp'lin Who and the Police.

As I see it, band or styles or origin who are definetely seen as not accepted are are Asian, East,
South or CentralEuropean, Latin American, heavy metal or bands like Uriah Heep, Jetro Tull. North European rock is accepted if its Norweigan, Danish (thank God for that!) & in good times Finnish.
I am strongly into all this. Unhappily enough.
Swedish rock is accepted if it's uncomplicated and features singers born before 1946.

More unclear or hot subject are Beatles, U2. Punk rock in general is dubious
and heavy rock are mainly seen as totally not accepted.

Roughly thats how I view it.

Don't be offended by my opinion. You have a right to like bands that totally suck if you want to.

i been in sinatra land lately...and elvis...and booker t's various stuff...wrong bands? probably...i need live stones everyday like i need morning coffee...they are like food to me...heard a totally awesome jivin' sister fanny at a local music gatheing where i play my new songs frequently...the guy was so ON it...what a great great song...ooops...piano too! hot four piece...i like the wild variety of stuff that people like...like to read about it...give a look and listen...lots suck but i like what i like and like that...

grew up in nyc in the late fifties thru sixties...sorta contemporaneous with old pop turning into r&b and rock and roll...most of it black...new york girl groups...traveling thru were all the early rock and roll shows i was Thrilled to see and hear as a young child, again often all black, but cats and women from Detroit and various points South...the folk, pop and rock and country i experienced live and on record (easy to get any record at all!!) in nyc those days....

blah blah...not surpising that rock and roll and blues and jazz are distinct American music forms...the founding fathers of the second generation of great rock artists, including our Stones...is also not surprising, but a genius revelation and interpretation, morphing into it's own powerful stylists and genius was everywhere...fresh and new...cowboy songs, blues, country, hard country, field hollers...whooo......all manner of jazz and swing and bebop etc...it's americana baby...and even the greatest shining Brit and Aussie artists are steeped in American influences...
but we are becoming more international and open and my ear enjoys other tonalities other approaches...but basically, REAL rock and roll leaves me in tears of joy and dancing free...

if i 'know' whats wrong going into it; i may miss something...i try to accept whatever whatever artist is offering on their own proscenium (however that's spelled)....but i get impatient and always need my soul cleansed and that's why every single time i hear the Stones on the radio it totally makes my day.

I've loved Scissor Sisters since I saw them in a NY club way before they were famous. I'm pretty sure that marks me out for open contempt on this board. I also like a lot of current indie/pop - Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight. It's daft to get totally stuck in the past.

Well put, beely.
I just think the True Spirit of Rock And Roll
or Rockenrål or Rockendról is cosmopolitic.
A rootsy tune could be recorded about anywhere.
