Mingus and Keith

This is probably one of my favorite stones related side projects.

Before hearing the WeirdDavisNightmare who would pair Mingus and Keith?

Well Keith fits in Charlie's music like - as we say here in Italy - "il cacio sui maccheroni", cacio cheese on pasta.

I would dare say that Keith's cameo is one of the most genuine and proper contributions on the whole project.

There is such depth in this old rocker's music that always surprises me.

This is one of my least favorite. Just can't listen to Jazz. It freaks me out.

Finding it made my day too! Actually I was looking for the video of JJF by Tim Ries posted here some time ago, because I remembered that you posted where I could find it, and bumped into this one by chance!

Hope I could be there: besides being a huge fan some time ago I saw a documentary on Mingus and part of it was dedicated to these bands, and what I saw was great!

he was a very remarkable man - really more in the tradition of ellington as a composer than maybe any other jazz figure of the century....

I have this album. A most eclectic mix of artists and tracks. Atomic bomb is a strange track as well, although it is on my iPod.

yes,it is a funny track, but the original by Mingus is simply irresistable!

Cracking post, Liddal. I love Mingus. And the Weird Nightmare album is superb. There's a Robbie Roberston spoken word piece that's eerie.
