They were always a GREAT live act. I was so disappointed when their reunion fizzled a few years ago. Peter Wolf has released some AMAZING solo stuff, that was ignored by everyone with the exception of critics (who loved it) and a few fans.
One of my top 3 favorite live acts back in the day.
I promoted a show with them on the Freeze Frame Tour. We had booked them before te record came out for a pretty cheap rate of $10,000. By the time our date rolled around Centerfold was #1 and they were getting $40,000 a show, or more. They never once tried to renegotiate, or drop our 5,000 seat venue for a more lucrative 12,000 seat place. Very classy.
Also...their Rider called for one odd pairing. They wanted 1 bottle of Dom Perignon and 1 bottle of Thurnderbird. For the Europeans on this thread, Thunderbird is the cheapest rot-gut wine out there, sold basically at stores that might cater to bums. When I asked why they wanted both one of the most expensive wines and the worst wine out there, they replied they drank Dom to celebrate where they were, and Thunderbird to remind them of their roots. A great way to go out on stage every night!
Last weekends shows were absolutely incredible. Live rock and roll at it's finest. I cannot believe how great this band was/is, especially since they broke up over 25 years ago! Five original members looking and sounding like a time warp. We can only hope this leads to something bigger in the near future. Peter Wolf is still the best front man in all of rock. I can't believe it!
