According to Stone Alone (Bill Wyman) flight 505 was coincidentally the flight number of the British Airways plane the Stones took on their first trip to the US in 1964.

Doesn't the song refer to Buddy Holly's accident?

Flight 505 was the British Airways flight from New York to London that left once a day at 16.00 hrs.

Great eerie intro by Stu, and the last bit of his intro sound like Jumping Jack Flash! Cool tune with some great guitar interplay, and cool backup vocals. Bills fuzz bass too! Good groove...

Great opening track for side 2...as all of Stones side 2 opening tracks...

keith was pushing for this one to be played at the theater shows on the licks tour, but alas...

one of my all-time faves! Everything's cooking... starting with Stu and continuing with a hot weave of guitars.

Love it - part of what made the Stones the Stones....

This one, hmm, could it be called "bluesy pop"? "Poppy blues"? I suppose it's a reasonably good track, but it doesn't hold a candle to what was to come just 2 years later, IMO. A bit too arch, a bit too stilted for my taste. Apologies to all the Aftermath fans.

It's back when they could still groove with a Chuck Berry type beat. Maybe the group had a smaller sound then, but I dug it. And that Stu piano open somes up the Stones in a few chords.
