Stones first TV performance

Hi everyone,

I'm a long-time reader and first time poster. This is definitely the place for Stones fanatics.

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen, or more importantly, has, any footage of the boys on TV before the Arthur Haynes show in February of '64. I don't believe that any footage exists of the "matching checked coats" performance on RSG.

Any insight would be appreciated.

1963?

I thought the 1st TV appearence was the 7th of July 1963 ,ABC 'Lucky Stars Summer Spin', Birmingham, Alpha Studios, with "Come on " in playback (Televised on the 13th July. )

Am I wrong?

Interesting.

The oldest source i have(Roy Carrs book from '76)says June,as do a couple of others.

Karnbachs says July as does this site
[www.tv.com]

Other websites say June, others July so maybe no-one really knows at all, great pics though!

I am not surprised ,still ill, that some dates don't fit

In "The Rolling Stones Chronicles",it says :
July 7, they taped an appearance on TYLS,broadcast the 13 th.
Wyman," Bilou " as we call him, writes in "Stone Alone":7/7/63.
May be we could have a look on the archives of the TV programm?

Thanks for the posts. Sway, I believe that that performance of You Better Move On is from the Arthur Haynes show in 2/64. I guess that is the earliest tv performance for which footage still exists.

Did play any tunes other than You Better Move On and I Wanna Be Your Man?

Would you mind telling me what is "matching checked coats" performance on RSG.
I am not sure I got the point.

I thought, incorrectly, that the TV appearance on where they wore the mathcing houndstooth jackets was on Ready Steady Go. Apparantly it was Thank Your Lucky Stars as pointed out above by Still ILL.

I wonder if there is any film of that in circulation.
