I think everyone here would agree that Taylor is more versed playing lead guitar than any Stone ever; more of a lead guitar virtuoso.
Where opinions differ is if this spells 'better'. Taylor might be a 'better' guitarist than Keith or Ronnie, but look at their respective output.

Playing lead guitar is just one of the tasks you have to master to be a great guitar player, imo. Playing suitable thing to make a song whole, making the rhythm swing making music, write your own stuff, find your own signature, interpretation etc. are others...

Agreed; this is why I put 'better' in quotation marks.

LIB (...) needed a classy sideman like Taylor.
For those two songs?

<Concerning Ron Wood, I am of the opinion that musically he was far more important than Taylor ever was, as much of what Richards wrote and played was directly influenced by his interaction with Wood. Whether you like the result (Some Girls, 81 tour etc) is a different matter.

Mathijs>

Sure."Taylor wiped the floor with me" and "I learned a lot from Mick Taylor",
"I miss Mick Taylor a lot" "His touch, his tone and his melodic ideas wowed me,I never understood why he left" All quotes from Keith. Let alone Charlie's and Bills. Jagger says nothing, that nails it.

Ron and Keith are undefined hash to me.

Dream on Mathijs.
