Wicked As It Seems, Wandering Spirit, and Demon on one record?

I find it really disappointing that an unbelievably great album did not come before Voodoo Lounge. While I am a huge Voodoo Lounge fan, I would have loved to have heard Wandering Spirit's main riff played by Keith, and Mick on 'Wicket as it Seems'. Keith's rhythm guitar would have made 'Don't Tear Me Up' an instant classic, then close the album with 'Demon' with Jagger on backing vocals, '...it's such a mess.' Get me a time machine and a good excuse to get in Mick's or Keiths's house.

It's a shame, isn't. In 1984-1993, they both had a great 12 track album between them.

Particularly "Wandering Spirit"! Good for Jagger, but go figure how it would have been "Put Me In The Trash" or "Wired All Night" performed by the band. He should have saved like 40% of the album for the Stones, IMO - that would have been a KILLER.

If The Stones take a break, Bill quits and Mick and Keith are making their own albums, is it a bad thing if their albums are good?
And you don't know if your beloved album Voodoo Lounge had been that good if Mick and Keith didn't had made their solo albums just before, do you?

Good point, Thommie, but I see where nonfilter is coming from. There are a ton of "what if's" as it relates to the Stones in the 80's and 90's etc... What if they had toured in '84 after Undercover, or in '86 after DW, What if DW had been produced better, What if Mick's solo albums had been Stones albums, what if Keith's had been Stones albums.... What if Bill never left, What if Brian never died, what if MT never left...??? They are all worthy questions. One could also wonder. What if the Stones called it quits after 1982? or '90?? or '75???

Mixed emotions - while I don't like Mick's band on Spirit (the xpensive winos are something else) I do love Keith vocals. Yet Jagger is a better singer. Love is strong is quite close to how 'Wicket as it Seems' would be with Mick on vocals, but I don't think it is one of their best songs.
