no mention of Bill, Mick T, or Brian in SAL

what's up with that? even if its a concert movie, the history of the band is a part of the movie. and no mention of key members. all including Stu, especially, should have had a little light shined on them.

you can't say a couple of songs from Rhythm Kings' shows were likely to be available as bonuses smiling smiley but anyway it's a good point.

i'm sure it was an unintended oversight of which mick and keith are quite ashamed...much like the accidental air-brushing out of bill on rarities...mistakes like these are inevitable over time....

yes of course. surely they will publicly acknowledge this unintended oversight, and promise in the future to mention other band members. smiling smiley)

It could be intentional to exlude the 'rest' but taking the minimal amount of historical footage the film has I don't think that really matters. In fact, taking the nature of the film into account, I think it is even better this way. The idea of those rare clips from the past is just to give some support to the recent performance - just to enrichen the content by few funny anecdotes and comments from the mythical past of the heroes of the film. It would just confuse to have 'extra' persons - the ones not to be seen performing anymore - to cook the soup even more.

If the film would have been more historically oriented, then the absence of Brian, Bill etc. would have been a loss.

next tour, i suspect after introducing the band members on stage, including the 35 extras brought along to enhance the sound so that the songs sound as authentic as possible, mick will say something like:

"and I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge the contributions of past members:

brian jones, who founded the band and whose imagination and blues knowledge was absolutely fundamental to all future successes of the band....

bill wyman, whose swinging and lyrical styling of playing is sorely missed....we've never really been the same on stage or in the studio without him...

and mick taylor, the most brilliant guitar player we've ever had in the act...and although we enjoy ronnie's antics and occasionally interesting guitar fills, we realize now that we ceased being a creative force in rock'n'roll after mick quit."

thats an interesting point, but I disagree. I think remembering those they had worked with, some of whom are no longer with us would be acknowledging their roots and give more meaning to their performance. The same way Micks introduction to "as tears go by" gave added meaning to that song, for me anyways.

Brian, Mick T and Bill are not relevant in a concert film shot in 2006. If you were getting married for the 3rd or 4th time would you want your first wife in the photos????

Mick and Keith think this...

If the band updated 25X5 tomorrow and made no mention of Bill, Brian, or Mick Taylor, then I would call foul. If they make a concert film/documentary about the band today, I wouldn't expect them to mention orginal members who have been dead for nearly forty years or quit seventeen years ago or indeed former members who quit thirty-four years ago. Most people focus their lives on now, not then and I don't think we can fault the Stones for being any different.

T&A - Some Girls was not creative???? It was a lot better than the last two Mick Taylor albums. I like Ronnie and I think that Mick and Keith should let him be more of a creative force in the band.

That said I wiah they had mentioned the three in SAL - They all have a richly deserved place in the band especially Brian Jones.

I did not see them on stage at The Beacon, and SAL is a concert movie, so I can't understand why they should list people who were in the band 15-30 years ago. Makes no sense.

Because some people seem to be insufferable romantics.

I am not!!!

Hm,as it´s dedicated to the memory of Ahmet Ertegun who tragically accidented
at one of the shows one could come to the conclusion that it would have been
more than a nice gesture to include the mentioned above and Stu somehow...

They will be always part of the stones history and as an independent director
Scorsese claims to be he easily could have add some nice little snippets
without any problem.

I finally bought the DVD and watched the movie, this past weekend. in a reflective moment, I thought about Bill and all his years with the band, and Stu, and Brian and MT.
yes its a concert movie but it also has the old interview clips so its not just a concert movie...

Good point, and one that's often lost on folks who've never played in a band. When someone in your family disowns you, there's a price to pay.

Hmm...air-brushed out of family photos? When the family is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, yeah, I can see it happening.

I didn't notice when I saw it at the movie theatre and I haven't noticed watching it at home. It didn't occur to me, didn't cross my mind.

Why would it? I'll watch it again and it still won't. I'll even eat some popcorn.

Yeah - third US album title. It's that simple.

I dunno, maybe I've missed it, but has anyone, with exception to Woody, said anything about Brian (yeah, I know, JONES) or Mick Taylor? I can't recall so I'm going to say no. I mean with Flicks or Bang. I think it was in Flicks. I think Keith talked about Brian about Anita but that's not exactly to do with the band now is it.

By all means, point out where if they have. I know Woody has said something here and there about doing what Brian or Mick T did on songs...I just can't remember when or what it was on/with.
