A big fan of Johnny...I posted a thread last year about meeting him in SF...asked him if he knew why the Stones opened up their Hyde Park gig with one of his songs..you guys remember this don't you ?...he replied that it was probably because it was a great song!...showed him my portfolio & now my image of him is on the cover of his new DVD..'Living in the 70's'..you can view it on Amazon.com...and many others on my website..www.peterstupar.com...I'll post my Stones pix soon....peter

Dont shoot me but Johnny Winter damn near cuts the Stones with one of their own songs(JJF). He also does a great Stray Cat Blues. also if you listen to Winters Silver Train (which came out before the Stones I think?) he follows the first version the Stones do very closely-guess they really did give it to him! And of course(even though its really Bobby Womacks song) he rocks out on Its All Over Now thats so identified with our boys. Wonder what would have happened if ole WhiteHair/BlueEyes had joined up with em? Whew!!!!!

I saw him in October and had mixed feelings about the show. He lost almost all his power but he is still far ahead of most of his imitators. He should have never touched that little white guitar. It sounds terrible. When he brought Firebird for the encore, it was quite another story. Just couple of chords he strummed to test reminded me that I listened to one of the greatest players of all times. If Highway 61 is the only songs he plays on concerts, it would be enough to satisfy anyone.

Wouldnt it be a great thing, in lack of any Stones gig,
we could make a kinda Gatherin' Of Da Tribes of the Stones Troopers
- Norsemen,. Danes & Swedes plus Finns altogether, maybe a few Germans & anyones
at Sweden Rock and worship our favorite blues & rock albino together... ?
