Im lovin it. It sounds like the vocals right at the end could be 1972. What do y'all think?

certainly uplifting mood song musically
modern jagger lyrcs but heard worse
i agree that would have fit a lot in GHS that maybe miss a song like this, i mean mood wise (back to back with luxury maybe? ;-)
i think vocals are all 2010 100%

Thats what I think too. Some days ago, after all this criticism concerning Micks "new" vocals on the 30 second clip, I checked this clip against early 70s Stones stuff and the one thing that struck me was that the "modern" vocals are recorded much brighter whereas the old recordings reveal not exactly muffled, but more mellow sounding vocals. Its not the voice itself, it sounds more like the voice is EQed differently. And the vocals right at the end of PMS sound exactly like the early 70s EQ.

Speaking of the song itself - Im lovin it, too!!!

I have been informed by the reliable Mrs skelly that the song will be played in the UK tomorrow morning by Chris Evans on Radio 2 at 8.10am.

I'm thankful that I could give that 'new' song a good listen due to some of you guys on this board.

It's a 'new' Stones tune and that alone gives me a thrill, as I really love the greatest rockband of all times and especially Keith. They saved my life for decades.

But I'm kind of irritated by the following:
- Where's the solo(s)?
- Where's the intro?
- Why the *?$@ does it sound like a recent Jagger solo recording? Is it the production, the mix or just the 'precise', forced lead vocals that don't fit the song's sloppy 'Exile' style?
- Why does the rhythm guitar sound like it's been recorded for IORR? There's not one single rhythm guitar track on exile with a similar sound? For me the basic track is form the goats/iorr sessions (see Through The Lonely Nights)
- I hate the falsetto vox, don't fit the song imo
- All that leads me to the fact that Keith hadn't much to do with these unreleased tracks. Is he just tired of the fights with Mick concerning vox/production or doesn't he care at all anymore?
- Why is Keith great rhythm play nearly buried in the mix? see above
- Why are the boys not able to write new songs anymore, better new songs especially, as they feel forced to release unfinished songs like that?
- for example there are some far better songs on the latest albums, but all of them lack feel, sound and production, (drums, bass, piano, guitars). Is it just the loss of Stu, Taylor, Bill, Nicky Hopkins, Jimmy Miller, heavy drug use, basements in tropical heat and disease, or did they just lose their passion (don't get me wrong, I really understand that they're not 28 anymore, as I'm 42 and far away from the stones passion of more than 65, so I am not bashing them for that!). But I'd love to keep them in my mind without the release of songs of which they thought they'd been too weak back then, and without to end up in money focused (see the new lyrics of PMS!) that want to sqeeze everything out of our love. They've begun to exceed some of my limits years ago, but now they're goin too far for me.

So I'm sorry, but I see why this tune stayed in the vaults for such a long time.
And it probaby better should've stayed there. There's loads of much better stuff that's been released after 1972. It would have weakened Exile for sure, but could've made Goats or IORR a better album.

I look forward to the other 'new' songs, but I fear that for my part I'll have to say farewell to what the Rolling Stones meant to me for the biggest part of my life, as it won't get better again...

Some times it definitely sounds like an early seventies cut, then at other stages it sounds more like a recent effort. Nice song overall. ADTL sounds like the album cut, I guess it is.

You'd lose that bet. The vocals are all very 2009.

All Down The Line is still the best cut from the single, but it's great to have new songs of good quality.

It's available on French iTunes now so it should be available on every iTunes.

The "B-side" (All Down The Line) is the original Exile version with volume pumped up at max - which gives a good idea to what will look like the 2010 remastered version of Exile On Main Street ...

Well, It's great to see after years, some new stuff.
The song is not really awesome , but I like it for the music ,I need time with the voice.
There's also some bit of "Tumbling Dice" in the rhythm and the backing vocals IMO.
The spirit of EOMS is safe, and that's the main thing!
