Why was the design of the album cover for Sucking in the Seventies controversial.

On the CBS CD edition I put a tongue sticker over the zero on the cover to simulate the vinyl issue somewhat. Looks cool.

For some reason I LOVE this comp. I think it's their best one.

I agree Skipstone.
I had to borrow my sister-in-laws van once that didn't have a CD player. I dug out this cassette and thought "wow, this stuff doesn't 'suck' at all, it's better than anything they've done in the last 25 years".

i was so perplexed with this "non-cover" that i ripped out the full-page ad from my radio station copy of billboard for the album and taped it to the cover - the ad featured a sorta naughty pic of jerry....

Yeah when originally released the cellophane wrapping had a large stones tongue with the track listing on it, and the large tongue was positioned over the top part of the seven, and it really made it look like a cock, was hilarious! Great compilation, my favorite. But also a bit frustrating with all the edits in it. Mannish Boy, Crazy Mamma, and Fool to Cry were all edited to be shorter.

No: those edits are the promo edits from the original singles and that made this album an interesting item (for collectors)

Nah,they are too short. Prefer the original studio versions.

I'll agree, especially 'Time Waits for No One'.
I just might burn my own version with the full tracks... hmm....

I like the edit versions. It helps in making it somewhat different from the other editions of the tunes, like on TWFNO. Those are just the B-side edits anyway, from my understanding.

That ยด78 When the whip comes down version was the best.

This album was a big shame, the first one of many more to come (Undercover, Dirty Work, Steel Wheels etc etc)

"When The Whip Comes Down" (live) is great..

but the rest?

mwah

I love this for If I Was A Dancer and When The Whip Comes Down. The rest is superfluous. And who the hell really wants an edited version of Time Waits For No One anyway?

Totally agree Nikolai,
And I would add that Everythings Turning to Gold is fantastic as well!

Damn! Forgot that sleazy classic was on there. Wonderful song!

I'm tired, I'm tired of doing what I'm told.
Things are moving way too slow.

Brilliant! Playing it now.
