Just thought I'd post this as I was listening to the vinyl set Never Stop (first Gothenburg 1982 show) yesterday - and came accross those photos on the web.

Great show in fully daylight in the middle of the summer with poor sound compared with what we are used to nowadays.
Remember it like yesterday.

I understand the guitars were extremely loud - despite of the somewhat poor compared sound....which one could expect for this first European stadium tour (with the exception of Frankfurt 1982).
Wish I could have been there for these Swedish gigs....I was too young to travel on my own, back then.

I was there. At the first of two shows in Gothenburg (Saturday and Sunday). Two opening acts: Kim Larsen and J Geils Band.
Unfortunately the sound was horrible the first songs, don't remember exactly how many. Under My Thumb sounded really bad.
But things were getting better... A great experience after not seeing the Stones live since 1973.

Sweet memories...my first Stones show!

The double LP "Never Stop" of the 19th Gotheborgshow was my first Stonesbootleg ever. What a great show and what a wonderful tour.

My 2 first shows, I was 17 years old. I had been waiting for the Stones for half my life at that time.

I rather think "the fan you know" was under his game.
I don't know what "then fan you know" expected and I can't understand why he should walk out.
35 years ago is a long time and perhaps he wasn't in at all. Even if he wished he was. But instead of confess "My bloody idiot, I wasn't there" he's lying and has to fantasize a story to avoid getting in trouble when people ask him about the show.
Sounds reasonable, right?><
