Being a favourite of mine, I have always wanted to hear how Down The Road Apiece sounded on the '81 tour. Does anyone here know of a link to where I can hear it?

The Nov. 5 show (iirc) has a great fast rocking version and Stu is high in the mix on the SB tape thumbs up

They did it at the first show in Philadelphia, but at the beginning of the song, Keith broke a string and never really played the rest of the song, which broke my heart, I still think about what I could have heard; to have heard Keith do all those Chuck Berry licks in the solo and during the fade... oh well. They also did Mona that show.

Don Raye wrote Down The Road Apiece in 1940. He wrote another big hit called "The House of Blue Lights" which was distinguished by its boogie-woogie piano theme and hep-cat slang. Ella Mae Morse belted out the vocal.

"They did it at the first show in Philadelphia"

It was the 2nd (Sept.26) show. They played it only five times but at least 3 of these exist in SB form... thumbs up

Yes,it was the first of the two shows there that year. The set list was a good deal smaller for the second show. It might be the largest difference in set list size from one concert to the next. Going to a Go Go was played the 2nd night, though instead of 20 Flight Rock.

Mr Steel has provided some links:

It is in each of those shows

How cool is Amos Milburn?

I think I was 15 when the Willie and The Poor Boys record came out and introduced me to "Chicken Shack Boogie."

Bless the Rolling Stones--they helped me be a better (and prouder) American.

I have never seen Keith so animated and happy "playing" the guitar. They must have caught him on a good day. The Stones played Down the Road Apiece on Shindig! a few days later and it was a mediocre performance.
