Posted by: Rickster ()

Bob Seger was on a local detroit radio station yesterday morning and he said he is looking to tour later this fall if this happens this will be great I know its not the Stones but in my opinion its just as good of news as if the Stones were planning to tour.

i was looking forward to a dvd from the last tour...great setlist....he's looking pretty rough but still sounds good...maybe
it should just be a cd then. winking smiley i photographed one his shows on the last tour..... (they only allow photogd in for 3 songs and then they
escort you out)...wished i'd had a ticket for the full show.

IORR............but I like it!

you mean after all these years he STILL likes that old time rock and roll?!? that man is a trooper!

Seger is a Detroit boy with a lot of success and some good time rock and roll. He wanted to help the workers of Chevy who were staring at long lay offs and food stamps. I have no problem with that.

Seger gets props he made some great music and great concerts. He sold the song to chevy to help the auto workers. Seger is way better live than Tom Petty and if he gets the right band can put on a nice show. I am there and where are the Stones this fall?

Sorry shott but I have to disagree, Petty has way more depth of material and more guts to stick with it. Not dissing Seger, but I prefer Petty way more. His live shows are fantastic!

Seger is great in my book.
I'm from Detroit and have always dug his stuff.
Once, I saw him in a high school gym years ago.
His drummer had 4 bass drums!!

I'd love to see the old man again.
Nine tonight is a great CD

Actually, it's "trouper", not trooper. Totally different meanings.

I saw Bob S in the very early eighties and it was a boring show. The band sounded good but Bob just stood there for two hours. Every song was just like the album version with no jams, no rowdiness, no additional anything.

Are you sure it wasn't a PETE Seeger concert?

Like Springsteen in Jersey, and Billy Joel in New York, there is NO LIMIT to the number of tickets Seger can sell in Michigan. Never understood that "home town boy" thing whereby people are fans of someone just because "he came from here". Who cares where he came from. If I like him I like him, if I don't I don't.

You mean four floor toms, not four kick drums, right?

Seger is alright. I've always found his songs and lyrics too simple minded and lacking in any depth.

He was a good singer though.

That must've been the Like a Rock tour. I remember thinking that was odd too, no guitar or piano playing.

Last 2 tours he's seemed much more into it and back to playing guitar and piano again.

Not to mention...the last tour, all tickets were $59 Front row to the last. Gotta respect that.

I think this is great news. Bob Seger is just a basic, good performer. Nothing flashy, not a technically brilliant musician. He just seems like a good guy who loves his music. I saw him in the mid '80's and while I was rather ambivalent about going to the concert, it was truly an enjoyable evening. Played has ass off for almost three hours and everyone there had a great time. That's why I'm goin' to Kathmandu!!

He had a string of really good albums starting with Beautiful Loser, the live album Live Bullet, Night Moves, Stranger In Town, Against The Wind and another live album, Nine Tonight.

Then he kind of faded away. Great voice, some kickin' tunes with some nice production. I still think Mainstreet has some of the best production sounds captured of the 1970s. Reminds me of the warmth captured on Exile, Soup and IORR with the fantastic sound of the acoustic guitars that has never sounded as good since - for anyone.

I love good old Bob. Saw him on his last tour and he put on a great show.

Right on skip! I love the lead guitar tone for Mainstreet. It's one of the '70s warhorses that I always listen to when it comes on the radio.
