Some Girls Special Edition (wishful thinking)

What i would really like would be a triple vinyl only Some Girls special edition, album one - a remix of the original album pushing the levels to the red. album 2 - best Some Girls tracks on the Handsome Girls boot, remixed and reamsterd to top quality. album 3 - all the best studio outtakes and unreleased stuff from this period. would be sweet tongue sticking out smiley

Shit man, I agree with you. This album deserves a deluxe edition as much as any of 'em. So much good studio stuff form this era that has yet to see 'official' release, not to mention the killer live stuff from the Some Girls tour. A nice 2 disc treatment of this record would be a joy if done right.

They've got enough bonus studio material to fill at least two discs - the unedited/extended mixes we all know from a plethora of bootlegs, plus the official, never released on CD/digital format mixes too. And then there's the live stuff ...

Won't happen though. The Stones need a proper archivist and a few fans to handle their reissue programs. Left to their own devices, we get the so-called "Exile outtakes". Ha!

How about a second disc with:

Everything Is Turning To Gold
Miss You UK single edit (no sax)
Miss You 12"
Beast Of Burden single edit

Wouldn't that be spectacular!!???

most ironically I'd love to hear bonus edition of Dirty Work... really some outstanding outtakes there - don't negate, deny and laugh unless you've heard 'em.

the bonus tracks should be issued without DW itself...in fact, DW should be removed from every home in which it exists - by force if necessary. health coverage for all is important, but what good is it if people are still allowed to listen to DW?

LOL...I love the idea of DW outtakes issued without the original album! While they are removing DW, the powers that be should also comb through the vinyl and relieve folks of any copies of "Monkey Grip" or "Stone Alone" that in a fit of bad judgment or temporary insanity they were induced to purchase.

And then there are the 8 Track mixes of Miss You, Shattered and Beast of Burden. All longer than the album versions.

Indeed. Unfortunately, the outtakes would put the official album to shame.

I never understood why they didn't finish "I Can't Help It (Love You Too Much)" since it's such a unique song with both Mick and Keith on vocals and it had such great potential. I always thought it would have made Some Girls a much better album had it been there in place of "Lies," which was a rather week attempt at punk and would have been better suited as a b-side.

interesting to read all the negatives about "lies," which i think of as essentially the "theme" song of SG......just a fun punk romp that seemed to have "1978" written all over it...got a lot of FM airplay back in the day....

I love "Lies". Especially Charlie's cymbal crash at the end.

Disc 1 - Original album
Disc 2 - Full-length versions of the songs which were edited down for release (the first 4 songs would clock in at about 35 minutes alone), alternate versions of the rest, the 8-track versions and 'Everything is turning to Gold'.
Disc 3 - Outtakes (I know there are about 30-40 songs left off the album but many of them probably werent finished - a single CD of the best cuts would do 'em justice. You could probably get 15-18 songs on this disc.
Disc 4 - DVD of the FULL Dallas show which was filmed for the unreleased tour movie 'Ladies & Gentlemen, The Rolling Stones' (only 28 minutes has circulated)

(Edit - for Dallas, I meant Fort Worth. Thanks, Kent)

I like "Lies" too, but now feel it's a bit redundant with "Respectable." "I Need you" or perhaps a different outtake would have fleshed out the album (side) a bit. Not a big deal, just a thought with 30 years hindsight.

Good plan! You should be in charge of all official Stones vaults releases -- "The Gazza Series".
