"Respectable" From No Security

Another poster mentioned this, and yeah, I like it better than the Some Girls version. The speed on NS is just right, and it has a perfect "lazy but intense" swaggering groove. Keith lays down the obligatory Berry-style lead, Ronnie is fine, and I love it.

The 1978 live versions, IMHO, were played too fast. This one is just right.

Have to agree that the live versions from the '78 tour were indeed "smokin'". The intertwining guitars are very pronounced on this tour. Check out one from the Handsome Girls recordings. Absolutely brilliant!

Respectable-1997? Yeah, sure- and Maradonna is a Much better player at 44...

Don't like the arranging on the NS version. Better in 1978. Mick's vocals is also weak, imo.

It's a weak rendition of a great album track. The BU vocals are horrible. Never liked it, sounds way too polished to my ears.

Out of Control: that's gotta be the best track on NS!

That one IS better than the album version!

Don't like how they play this song at all these days, this version and other recent ones sound very flat to me.

Yeah, I was listenin to the song today actually and I really like it to! Even if I think the studioversion and the liveversion from 1978 is better.

But I really don´t like how Mick is singing the song on Four Flicks

like it much better on Some Girls, where it really rocks. The drive has been missing from their live version for quite awhile - has to do with the arrangement/guitar rhythms.

This version sucks, horrible bass playing, the guitars (only two instead of three) didn`t make it, Mick`s vocal`s... No, the version lost its character. One of the very few versions from that BtB-tour I love is from the Waldbühne, Berlin. Small stage, 3 guitars, all standing in a row like 1978, nasty and punky, I was freaking out. To me the best post-1978 version.

Respectable has a very distinctive swing and groove on NS, but I realise that it's nearly forbidden to say that anything is better than 60's and 70's. Surely some of their best stuff is from the '70's but then again, some of their worst crap is too! Live in the 70's they were either the greatest band in the world, or the worst. At least after 1989, the've never been the worst....
