This forum has gone very quiet lately, this time last year we were all waiting for the Stones to anounce their new dates and people in the 'know' were giving their opinions , i.e. Gazza BV...SO is anything going to happen this year? does anyone know, are there any rumours (apart from Asia, and that may now be 2009)....just something would be good to get everyone talking again.

Don't shoot me down but I'm not sure I'd want another full blown tour. The ABB shows I saw were amongst the best. With Rio, Super Bowl, the superb DVD set, Shine Alight etc. I'd probably like to see them go out on a high?
I'd dread the stones getting to old and ending up like some sort of Chuck Berry.
On the other hand I would like to see them perform a few special shows, acoustic maybe that are broadcast for everyone to see.....

I dont want another mega tour either. I'd much rather they pursued the sort of model that Dylan has been doing in recent years and that the Dead and afew others have done. Ie, do maybe 3 mini-tours per year - every year - of maybe 15-20 shows at a time.
That way it gives them time to do other things they want - which at their age, most 'normal' people have earned the right to do - and it also means no lengthy gaps between Stones activity of some sort. I think they realise they're at a stage in their lives/career where taking a couple of years off between tours isnt really an option anymore for them if theyre going to continue as a functioning act.
I like the idea of 'special shows' too, but its going to take a huge sea change in the modus operandi theyve used for the last 35-plus years for them to work as a band on a scale which doesnt mean some lengthy and prolonged activity.

Well, I think that they just deserve some rest now for a while. I am sure we will se them on tour again, but I would rather see them strong and rested than being more and more tired because of non-stop touring. I don't want to start again the topic about Keith during the last ABB leg in Europe, I don't think he has any problems with his health. He was just tired and who wouldn't be after 2 years on tour?

I doubt that the boys will do a tour 08, but that doesn't mean they won't do some shows to promote the movie. Stay tuned...

I think I will go to New York for the premiere as the band will be there, or LA as Gazza suggested, which is an extremely logical locale.
