Joined their Fan Club/website and just received the CD View From A BackStage. Very cool! Comes with a nice color booklet of photos and a nice selection of unreleased live material (one song has been released, Dreaming From The Waist). Very good quality...

Too bad The Stones don't offer something cool like this!

Is this the band's official club/site? How much to join?

and can you give the URL?

bit of a downer for me so far... I re-joined for 40 bucks 5th Nov and got the shipping mail on 15th, yet I still haven't received the CD. Seems I'm not the only one, but it still sucks, since the first delivered CDs already arrived like a month ago.

$40.00. CD's great. Well worth it.

REM has a similar deal...though the CD varies from christmas oddities to live stuff, for only $10 per year...plus the right to buy advance sale tix (to more than one show, unlike the Stones).

Neil Young's membership is free. And if you buy tix to a show thru his site, you get the latest CD included for free.

I have not looked at Neil's website in over a year. Is it still annoying where you had to click on car headlights and stuff?

Would you want to see REM at all though? .... Ok, bad joke. Couldn't resist it.

R.E.M. WAS a great live act in the 1980's...once they signed to Warner Brothers the shows lost their edge.

REM needs to drop their producers and just record live in the studio.

They sound great live....even the new stuff...which sounds terribly on CD.

Yeah, it took quite a while for my CD to arrive, and in fact they sent me two!
But very cool, with some good stuff on it. A nice medly of Naked Eye/Let's See Action/My Generation Blues...hadn't heard that before....now when will the entire Swansea show come out!!!??

I'm impressed with the fan club at thewho.com. I hope they are able to continue to update it and give us rarities like View From a Backstage Pass. What I think is so cool about this cd is the amount of material that was uncirculating, which means that like the DVD which showed us snippets of previously unseen live material, there is plenty of things in the bands archives to release that have not circulated (Hull 1970, Denver 1970, magic bus is not on the bootleg that circulates), and Largo 73 (which, like the previous show at the Spectrum which is now mostly complete, only recently became available on Wolfgangs Vault, previously it was not known to exist). I think there is alot of potential here.

It's a great CD - a real fan's thing too. Apparently they're going to issue the full Kilburn 1977 show on DVD next year - as a fanclub release.

Also slated for release in 2008 is the expanded Who by Numbers, with outtakes (like the band version of Blue, Red and Grey, which had apparently been found).
