OT: What other autograph/book signings have you been to?
Posted by: little queenie ()

I haven't stood in line for an autograph in a long time but did back in the day:

Ramones (cool and non-talkative)
Mickey Hart (not so nice)
Mickey Dolenz (a little too nice)

Allen Ginsburg, Beat Poet (very nice)
Lawrence Furlingetti, Beat Poet (annoyed)

Scott Baio (very sweet at 16)
Larry Wilcox from CHiPs (short wait in line)

Just met photographer Phillip Townsend at the Stones convention in London in August. He wins hands down.

DENNIS HOPPER, right after Blue Velvet. Man was he a riot. The Girl with me keep saying,"Hey Dennis, what were you breathing in that mask?" and he would just bust up so 1 minute later she would ask him again and he was LHAO... a VERY loose guy.. Dean Stockwell, Stockdale ? - Candy Colored Clown guy was there too, he wasn't as fun as Hopper, what a character......My friend goes ,"Hey, you're the Candy Colored Clown they call the Sandman" and he just looked at her like F*K you little Girl.... Still funny though - a very serious actor dude....

Here's some signed books from my collection. At least you can see what authentic signatures look like.

Springsteen

Aerosmith

Buddy Guy

David Crosby

Mick Fleetwood

Mel Brooks & Carl Reiner

Billy Gibbons

Never went to a book signing, but I got Dave Mason's autograph (wow) backstage when he showed up at a Traffic concert a few years after he left the band. Also I have a Pete Best signed DVD of Best of the Beatles (big wup).

One of my son's best friends father is Denny Dias the original guitarist of Steely Dan. I guess I could walk over to his home 3 blocks away and ask him to sign a computer program he wrote.

I once mistook Dave Mason for Mick Fleetwood and got my Rumors signed by Dave. I had not seen Mick in several years and when I saw Dave, it looked as if Mick gained some weight and let himself go. 30 seconds later I see a healthy Mick in a suit and tie...looking like a million bucks. This was in 1994 when Fleetwood Mac went out with Just Mick, John McVie and Dave Mason + a couple other people...

I've never been much of an autograph seeker, but in 1980 I waited in line
at a record store with my friends to get the autographs of the LA punk band X.
They were playing in town that weekend, and it was all quite exciting.
I still have their 1st and 2nd vinyl albums in pristine conditon with autographs by all bandmembers.
Every once in a while I break out the sacred vinyl, and relive all the memories.

Bill Wyman in Edinburgh. Wouldn't sign anything from his Stones era. Was signing "Rolling with the Stones". Asked me my name and what I wanted him to write. I suggested "It's Only Rock'n'Roll". "Not very original", he sneered. "Do you know that nine out of ten people ask for that?".

Mind you, he inscribed it as requested.

Muhammad Ali, New York - October 1993.

First time ever in the US and by sheer fluke within 3 days I get to meet my all-time hero and get a pic with him.

Hey Queenie...let me know if Ronnie is coming to Chicago for
a book-signing. I'll meet you there.

Most autographs I have are sports figures, a few musicians and
a couple tv personalities.

I do have Rolling Stones autographs from the VL tour (no Wyman) but
I didn't personally get them (or "meet" them). Also have a couple
(signed & numbered) mini-lithographs from a Ron Wood collectible cd single.
I think it was called "Show Me"....fairly rare i think.

I like to decorate my office with signed photos of people I've photographed etc...

IORR............but I like it!

I also shook "Charles Estepp"'s hand (dont even remember
which soap he was in - Rich man Poor Man?)
& I attended Floyd Patterson's burger restaurant Opening Day in ma town.
The man was there. Tough piece of a guy.

Plus a few more.

Forgot Taylor. Bugged him in 05, 1½ month after Bill.
A Canadian dude, who often posted here before got Taylor's
& his band, the Finnish Wentus Blues Band's autographs.
My uncle got ALO's crow-kicks & my son got Bill's.
Me - I got the memories.
