Hampton vs. Let's Spend the Night Together
Posted by: mickjagger1009 ()

From 1981, I have Let's Spend the Night Together but not the Hamptons. What I don't like about Let's Spend the Night Together is that Mick is so loud in the mix and those great guitars are not. Is the Hampton's any better as far as the guitars being up more in the mix? I'm talking DVD, not just CD.

Agreed, and you need it on CD and MP3 as well, to be able to carry it around everywhere, like one carries a wallet or a picture of ones beloved.

Arguably the greatest Stones show ever.

I know this show comes highly recommended... but is the guitar/vocals mix any better than Let's Spend the Night Together? Not just the show itself.

Guitars are loud and clear, and most important ... it's unedited, contrary to LSTNT. Bill Wyman steals the show

LSTNT is much better but Hampton is warmer. Yes I know but i mean Keith is more on fire. Ronnie is horribly out of it on the Hamtpon dvd (YCAGWYW...).

LAForum it is now official: you are out of your mind.

and people in need of Hampton who can't do downloads
should post a request for trade or B&P or whatever in the hot stuff forum.
helpful hint: if you say right away what continent you're on,
that can be real helpful in finding trader/B&P partners.

Sorry, but what is B&P? Is that a polite version of T&A (Breasts and Posterior)?

I prefer Micks Purple suit with Hawaiian print shirt to the football pants & blue jacket.

... wow, that's a class act you've got there, Droll. B&P means "blanks & postage".
some kindly types agree to help others out by not requiring music in trade,
but accepting blank disks instead. especially when they're impressed with their classy wit.

Thanks for clearing that up! Was that a veiled offer then? (I don't have much to trade but happy to supply as many blanks and stamps as you like).

... like i said above, requests for shows belong on the "hot stuff" forum - [www.iorr.org] -
BV (our host) doesn't like seeing them in the Tell Me forum.
and no, that wasn't a veiled offer - more like a not-very-veiled "good luck"

I prefer Hampton overall, but I must say lets spend the night's Beast Of Burden is superior.

When Let's Spend the Night Together came out (Rock's Off here in Germany BTW) I invited some friends - all none Stones fans - to watch it with me as I wanted to show them how fantastic this group is. The video of the Hampton show had blown me away and I thought that LSTNT must be at least as good as that. But what a disappointment. It wasn't as half as good and I thought why the @#$%& couldn't they release Hampton instead of LSTNT. Now I can enjoy it too but Hampton is still much better.

put it this way, you need both, just get hampton and dont think about it, you wont regret it, thay both have thier moments in different ways, even though lstnt is edited it is still a must, mick reading woody the riot act backstage is worth the price alone

I dont like the editing of LSTNT as far as cutting songs out or parts of songs, but I like the montages during Neighbors ( with mick reading ron the riot act), shes so cold and let it bleed. however I think having the Stage set up in Fast forward during Going to a go go was a HUGE mistake...it really breaks up the flow of the concert, it feels inturrupted. I really dont know WHAT to make of the montage during time is on my side! .... well, after thinking about more, it actually doesn't bother me. to me it seems like he's making a statement about how the stones have stuck together all these years during some turbulent F-d up times, with what was going on the world.

My vote........Hampton is much better. I think it's the definitive document from the '81 tour.

<Ronnie is horribly out of it on the Hamtpon dvd (YCAGWYW...).>

Not on the rest of the songs. Hampton is way, way better than LSTNT IMO. Correct tempo, better sound, better performance, and last but not least - you get complete songs without the disturbing editing...
