Who is this?

Who is the person in this photo behind the car? I always see him at the hotels and shows. He must be security but he's always smiling. He jokes around with the fans alot which makes it more pleasant then before.

This one...opening the door to the car behind Ronnies. He is always around before the band gets in. BV, do you know who he is? I want to thank him for all the picks he gave me.

Another that I found from rehearsals in Belgium.

... appears you want to do more than that.. . luckily for 'him', there are not

cross hairs on the photos ... this sight should have an anti-stocking sheild.

The Stones have a large crew and many security people working for them. They make it possible for us to see the band in a complex world. They do not want their names and details posted any place. We should be happy for the fact that the Stones have the best security there is, and thank these guys for their excellent work.

BV, not looking personel info. just wondering who he is. He has been extremely nice (by security standards) and was curious if anybody else had positive contact with him. That's all, nothing sinister.

He´s security. Right up there, apparently. For example, shadows Mick and Keith during the concerts should they decide to run the catwalks. He was around in Helsinki as well.

Not saying he´s head of security, but he´s up there. Think I did see him by the B-stage railing during the actual show.

He´s the guy who gave a bunch of fans picks and chatted with us for a while - the night before the Stones arrived. Told me he works security for other artists as well, such as Madonna.

indeed: thanks & praises to the Stones' gallant security team! keeping that handful of skinny English cats safe
and being cool with the courteous fans is ... wow, it means a lot. thanks & praises!

(the security people's identities have gotten pretty public -
i don't feel any need to add to that, but ... well, it's interesting!)

Stones have some of the best security around. They come over talk to you, smiling. They are dead serious when they have to. Have you seen a show where they don't have to use force to stop the press after song #1? When they want everything to be in control again. Then smiling 20 sec later.
Same again with the bodyguards. Nicest people around. One of them laughed like a kid when I recognised him off duty in Germany during licks. "Am I famous...!?"

I've been looking at this site for a long time without ever feeling the need to contribute. Until now.

I don't know his name for sure but I heard someone call him Preston. In Hamburg when the band arrived at the Park Hyatt he was the one controlling the fans and the media. It was pretty crazy by usual arrivals, I've seen a few of them. He put the fans on one side and the press on the other. Before the band showed up he talked to everybody and told them how and what was going to happen so everyone would get a good look at the boys. Instead of yelling at the fans he joked around and kept us all laughing which was great considering the amount of people that were there. He then asked, not told, all of us to stay back.
I was one of the many that rushed forward as soon as the cars arrived trying to get a better shot. It's my job. This is where it gets interesting. I've been doing this for some time and have had a lot of confrontations with security. I rushed towards Keith for a better picture and was stopped by Preston if that's his name. I got aggressive trying to push past him and he stopped me by chest blocking me.
After they were all inisde he came back over to me and asked if I was ok. He told me that it wasn't personel that they had a job to do and didn't have the luxury of determining between a fan and a threat. All they see is a body rushing forward he explained. He then shook my hand and apologized if I was hurt in any way. That's never happened before. We always think that they, security, are the enemy but what he said made alot of sense. I'll still try to get the shot, but maybe not as aggressively.

well ... there are plenty of "we" who don't think that way at all,
but it's very cool that his courtesy made a constructive impression on you.
they are indeed very good at what they do.

i've met a few of the security. i'd say it's 50/50. half are friendly, half are not so friendly.

True, I had weird experiences as well. But still I'm amazed that the other half can be that friendly. The guy in the photos especially - he was in front of me at the B-stage, last O2, and he was handing picks to many people, including myself.

The names of the bodyguards/security appear in the Biggest Bang credits, Chuck talks about them on his blog with photos as well - and you can read their names on their badges. It seems a couple of them have their own security team and a web site.

pretty much the whole entourage can be rather moody, it seems.
local security gets mighty weird sometimes, for sure, but ... well, never mind:
we each have our own experiences. have some wasabi-coated peas :E

Funny. Not.

In this world of craziness they are there to make sure that the band we all love is safe to continue to give us joy.

And Nikki Bong, I'm sure they would go into harms way to insure the bands safety, would you?

Unfortunetly there are a lot of crazys out there.. remember John Lennon.
We should be thankful that they are willing to protect those that others would do harm to, and in such a way that they smile and make it enjoyable for those of us that just want to hear the music.

Music, I know this is a dead thread but I thought I'd tell you that a friend/colleague of mine in L.A. says your mystery security is well known in his town. He told me that this guy gets that it's just a job and never gives his crew a hard time. Said that in a town that's famous for security pushing and shoving there are a few who are actually human. This one suposedly offered water to both the fans and paparazzi on a hot day in lala land. Everybody has good and bad stories about security, usually bad.
