Pretty good review there and the [www.vhlinks.com] forum is pretty happy with the first show.

It really sucks Eddie still uses the Wolfgang-type guitar. Why didn`t he play the new Frankenstrat signature model?

Man, does DLR look a little too Vegas ? I know he's flamboyant, but C'mon Dave, give us a break...

Not so much Vegas as Manhatten bath house. The dirty little secret in Hollywoodland is Diamond Dave started "pitching for the other team" about ten years or so ago.

Tell me about it... what the hell is Roth wearing on those shots from opening night? He doesn't look like a Rock Star/singer, he just looks like a nutty fan that jumped up on stage.......Hey, Dave, stop borrowing stage outfits from ELTON JOHN'S closet.....man oh man....

I thought the comment one reviewer made about Dave raiding Seigfried and Roy's closet was pretty funny. It's kinda hard to ridicule the guy because I think he has sort of embraced his own campyness and self parody of the Rock Star icon.

I believe that DLR's "self parody of the Rock Star icon" works when he's a man about town, doing press, or working the streets. But not when he's in front of paying customers. Do you think that the majority of the Van Halen ticket buying crowd thinks this is cool?

Man, VH of today just isn't my bag, baby.

The setlist is great, by the way.

I'm on the other team and have yet to see him show up for practice.

I have never heard that.

It's hard to say if most think his persona is cool but I think for the most part they accept the guy for the goof-ball that he is ... I don't think most fans take him seriously at this point and I appreciate the fact that he doesn't take himself too seriously either .. just my take on it, I'm usually well off base. I always considered the band a little cartoonish and for me that was part of the appeal.

I wasn`t there but I saw the rehearsal video`s and they were fabulous. Dave`s voice is still in great shape. But I loved the Sammy era too. I hope they can combine the two one day.

I'd heard it numerous times and it was confirmed by the staff AND groupie contingent at a club show in my town about five years ago. Doesn't bother me none though his HAIRPLUGS sure did.

QUESTION about Van Halen ?

Never seen 'em, don't know ANYTHING about 'em - not a single tune or album, band member's name, wouldn't even recognise any of their faces, etc etc.

Have I missed out ? Are they the (second) best thing after sliced bread ? Or are they - as I understand SOME folk think - the biggest sack of s**t that's ever come out of ... wherever it is they've come out of.

All opinions welcome, biased, unbiased, irreverent, serious ... well you all know the score !!

Hi Paulywaul. I'm amazed you've never heard of Van Halen. They're one of the biggest selling rock bands of all time and Eddie VH is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. If I were you I'd go out and get VH1 and VH2 and see what you think. They're my second favorite band of all time!
I see on their website they've added 2 Vegas shows between Christmas and New Years.
I've already got my tickets for Vancouver since the company my brother works for has Canucks season tickets, they had first crack at getting them. Right around center ice, row 15. Tickets go on sale tomorrow and I'm sure they'll sell out quickly.

You are missing out if you've never seen Eddie play the guitar live. He's amazing !!!!!!!! I really don't care much about the other members of the band. I just go to see Eddie. GO !!!!!!!!!

I was there as well. It was awesome! The sound was very loud so I hardly heard Dave as well but they could have had it cranked due to the crowd being even louder. When they opened with "You Really Got Me" the crowd went crazy...I went crazy. It was so sweet.

Dave was the weak point. Not that he wasn't great or anything but Eddie...for just being out of rehab was in top form was Dave just walked around and sang. No running around or kicks. If Mick can still sprint and swing at 63, Dave sure can in his 50's!!

I got to meet Dave after the show. I was following this slow moving bus and pissed they were going to slow then noticed they pulled into a resort I knew the band was staying at. I pulled in as well and get to meet and get his autograph when he got off the bus. Pretty cool...but he is not that tall. Probably only 5'10 or 5'11. I always thought, from the videos and stuff he was over 6'.
