It's impressive because the kid is so young. If a 25 yr. old played like that, nobody would give a damn. Some people would even say he sucked. All those people who leave comments on youtube saying this kid is better than most guitar players in new bands (I think they mean the stuff you hear on the radio these days) don't know what they're talking about. The kid is good.....for a kid.

I'd like to know how old he is and how long he's been playing. He does really well.

way cool! well, he's got hope...strangely unexpressive face though; is dad a former soviet gymnist coach?

and are these 3/4 size guitars with the thinnest strings? (mini-hands effortlessly playing a low F barre chord and stringbends) also, "dad" hasn't put up another vid for 9 months, has disabled all video embedding... maybe jr. wanted to have a life, or perhaps they're scouring the world for a mini-bonham or the Pick of Destiny?

great entertaining link, nonetheless. thanks for posting!

I thought he was great. Hell, I'm 46 and have been playing for years and can't play that. Bet Keef can't either.

That said, I've got the Richards/Cropper soul. Does he?

Actually he is not that good. If you listen to kids who take lessons in piano or guitar... He's very gifted of course, but, not really amazing.

Not to detract from anybody's obvious talent.
But there's "fretboard gymnastics" and there's "guitar playing". The two have little to connect them. Young kids shredding have popped up all the place since the "sport" was invented.
I haven't seen this clip so Idon't know whether it's the case here...but it's only as kids grow up that we'll see whether fretboard skills translate to genuine musical talent and feel.

I have never, ever understood comments like this. Why on earth would anyone want to bust a childs bubble in such a way?Its more than likely not even the kids idea to put the vid on youtube. The kids playing is really good, and he has MANY years left to get better.....why not be thankful that a kid that age is into music?I can't play Stairway To Heaven like that,so hats off to the kid.

But I would never ever tell him or some kid that he's not amazing. Just saying, there are many kids with pianos and guitars. Of course he's a great talent no doubt about it.

He is very good for his age. But he doesn't seem to be enjoying it, which is a shame. He almost looks scared, like his dad is standing there with the video camera in one hand and an air rifle in the other, waiting for mistakes...

If he keeps practising, in a few years he could be an incredible player. And with the maturity he will learn to develop feeling, dynamics, and also hopefully he will learn how to enjoy himself more while he plays.

Yes, he's really impressive.
And he's father deserves respect...he came up with a good way of living through his son.

Yes, and that pisses me off. He's good, yes, but had he been a genius or something (noone has to be a genius) Id understand if someone in an audience put something on youtube.

Wouldn't it be great if,a few years from now, the kid ran into a friend of his from school, at a certain train station, that had a few Stones albums under his arm and he was like, "What have you got there?"

I don't really think he looks scared. he is a little kid; looked just concentrated to me. I was impressed and usually I don't go for little kids playing sophisticated music. I am in awe of their talent and their dedication to the practice etc but most the time a little kid just does not understand the depth of music yet. that is why it is almost a too much for them to overplay. I see these kids and I can tell that they don't get much of the music. And therefore play w/o dynamics. But I really think this kid played with a good bit of knowledge of wht he was doing. Of where and WHY he was goin up or down. I thought he was really good.
Like Elmo said: I play for a living and I can;t do what that little bugger just did.

Dig the harmonies in the chorus! LOL Where do you guys find this stuff??
The Bassist did the pointed finger in the B chord after chorus. Just like Jagger taught in summer camp.

This is a very cold comment. I guess if your kid drew a stick figure you would tell if it's not Picasso?

Well not everybody is amazing. His father thinks he is and now we are discussing his son here. I'm sorry, but that's a risk with youtube. His son is a great talent but not amazing, Ive heard better. It's not about being MOzart, there are many kids with instruments. I would of course tell the kid he's a genius with the guitar.
