Did Satisfaction come from Pretty Woman?

The Stone were on tour with Roy Orbison when they wrote Satifaction and surely heard Pretty Woman many times. Satisfaction employs the same, constant drum beat and both songs begin with a guitar riff on the lower strings in E. Do you think PW could have influenced the arangement of Satisfaction? Arists borrow. If you can, listen sometime to the beginning of the Stones' Just My Imagination along side the previous years' Are You Sure Hank Done IT This Way by Waylon Jennings. Pretty much an exact duplication right down to the phase shifter settings!

isn't it Martha & the Vandella's Dancing in the Streets that Keith's identified as his main source for Satisfaction?
along with Chuck's 30 Days for the lyric ... which doesn't rule out other influences, obviously.

"Day Tripper" is actually closer to "Pertty Woman" than "Satisfaction" is.

Isn't the "Satisfaction" riff played on the 5th (A) string beginning at the second fret?

Satisfaction often comes from a pretty woman...
...but sometimes they think it's enough that they look good ;^)

that was totally fascinating reading. i've heard the song a thousand times and never knew the real lowdown about 'losing streak' or other aspects. waaay cool.

Well, I remember Charlie Watts mentioning something about getting the idea for the drums from "Pretty Woman". Unfortunately, there wasn't a quote at timeisonorside.com, so maybe my memory does tricks.

well it is possible that individual members had different particular songs or aspects of them, that made creative intuitive sense to them influentially, as they were in the act of creation. none of this necessarily mutally excluxive methinks.

And one can hear that, about the drums. I dont think Lennon wrote Day tripper based on Satsifaction. More Twist and Shout riff.

There was a song by an artist who's name I can"t recall on the PBS show "John Lennon's Jukebox" which used the riff the Allman Bros. borrowed for One Way Out. In an interview Lennon said that riff was the basis for a lot of theirs [Day Tripper, ect] and that the Allmans had used it with no changes which he said "is OK too". Does anyone know the song and artest?

I have always felt the Satisfaction riff was very much influenced by the Last Time riff.
