i named my dog after a chuck berry fave: nadine. delilah, maybellene, betty jean and carol were all given consideration too....in the end, she just looked more like a nadine....

Yeah, I love Nadine, my band just had a gig here in Jakarta and we did Nadine, added some harp and the crowd loved it! Thanks Chuck!

I would say the last official songs would be the tracks off Rockit from 1979.

Don't think i saw "Promised Land" listed. He plays once a month at Blueberry Hill in St Louis. i am going April 14 unless my plans change drastically. If anyone from the IORR there we can have a beer or 10.

The list changes constantly since I like all of them but...

Dear dad
Around and Around
Bye, Bye Johnnie
Promised Land
Back to Memphis (that one has always been outstanding!)
Almost grown
Memphis Tennessee

Dark Horse is correct, the last LP released was in 1979 by the name Rockit.

i'm totally big on oh carol and lil queenie the yayas versions especially
love let it rock as stones did it in '78 HG tour...the opener and woww...
chuck's version of brown eyes handsome man kills me..
Elvis' Promised Land one of his most rocking cutz ever...the band is pistol hot!!!!
awwww, get on it....says the King before the vocals start and believe me they do.
revelation.... !

i love ol' stalwart johnny bee gud chuck's version amazing...
hendrix did the sheeit out of it...johnny winter too..
i sumtimes do it in my own acoustic shows using country folk approach...make it ROLL then it rox itself. this tune like blowin' in the wind or fortunate son or tons of stones trax in that it IS true narrative folk music, story written so beautifully as chuck does in maybelline and many others...
omg impossible to choose one favorite. the guys the total monster before even 1960!!
my ding a ling shameful. it was pop hit! a disgrace..
chuck leering waay too old for teenage lustsinging about his little dick

what a sad way to hit the charts for one of the best narrative rock writers ever...
he wrote the book...
ask keith
or mick
or elvis
or anybody

Slightly OT.

I was thinking of renewing my Chuck Berry CD collection. All I have are cheap and very (and lousy sounding) collections. More or less the same bunch of songs in awful sound quality.

What is the state of art today, only considering the quality of the recordings?

I'm tempted by the Complete Chess Recordings 1960-1966 box, but actually I prefer his "more recent" recordings from the mercury years (From St. Louie to Frisco seems not to be available on CD) so I am looking forwards to get the Have mercy box.

All his Chess Recordings are now available, in 1955-1959, 1960-1966 and 1969-1974 4 cd box sets. All are great investments, and well worth getting. I keep hoping the Mercury Recordings will get an anthology as well. Not as good as the Chess stuff, but still fun. What would be even greater would be an anthology of the 1979-present recordings.

Carlitos! How's paradise? That was one of the coolest places I've ever been! Hope we get to play there again soon.

We did a Rockin version of Rock Me Baby last night. He did not write it but man did he tear that one up.
