I can't recall a lot about this, but it seems I heard that Keith was in a car and a fan passed in to him some kind of rare, classic guitar to get autographed. In a snap, Keith's driver hit the gas and took off. This guy tried but could never get it back.

Any truth at all to this? If so, what does it say about his character?

Heard that too. keith thought that the guy wanted to give it to him. He said "Thanks", got into his car and drove away...

I once threw Keith a pick.

That story - is found at the end of "Old Gods Almost Dead".
Very likely a bullsh*t story.

However, the stories in the same book about Keith getting laughed at for the first time onstage in 1999 - that seems possible. It happened in Canada in 2005.

as for his making off with a guitar some kid wanted him to autograph, the way i heard it
it wasn't any rare sort of guitar and Keith didn't imagine it was being given to him.
he's said to have said: "nice guitar, kid! i'll sign it in my car, i've got a good pen there"
and whoosh - off he went, laughing his elegant ass off i'm sure.

i've heard different versions of the rest of the story:
~ the kid was actually one of the hordes of professional autograph hunters that the Stones take a dim view of;
~ it was a joke: the car stopped around the corner and the kid got the guitar back;
~ the kid was a true fan and just said: "of course i won't press charges - it's Keith!"

so what it says about Keith's character is: he's got a rambunctious sense of humour;
beyond that: take your choice.

I remember hearing that story a few years ago. The story I'd heard was the "professional autograph hunters" one.

then, and judging by the signed guitars on ebay, it was probably not the super rare type of guitar.

Quite a rock n roll move.

Has anyone of you an idea, when about it happened.

late 90s? or maybe during the Licks tour rehearsals? was it in Toronto?

late 90's would have been around the BTB era. Thats when I first heard about it

Up until you have made sense, but what you have written is a little confusing. What do you mean 'keith is "used"'? Also, why does he need a doctor?
