I've been collecting Stones albums since becoming a fan in 68, the first album being Let it Bleed. I first heard it on the Emperor Rosco Saturday morning show on Radio 1, before this it was all Beatles. I have every album now since 63 plus a few bootlegs and all the solo stuff from Mick and Kieth.
Does anyone know whether they have the record for the most albums released since starting or is their another artist who may hold the record?
Elvis is the best selling solo artist in US History..no idea on albums
WASHINGTON - With a large crowd of fans gathering to celebrate Elvis Presley's birthday, RCA Records and BMG Strategic Marketing Group, both part of BMG, with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced at a ceremony on the grounds of Graceland Mansion this morning that Elvis Presley now stands as the best selling solo artist in U.S. history
I though Willie Nelson was 1 of the highest album releaser .some 250 as far as I know. The Rolling Stones could be the highest Group album releaser however,I think they are still the most bootlegged

they're not even close. Especially with studio albums, considering theyve only done four in the last 21 years.

as far as bands go, maybe not, but there are numerous solo artists who have released a lot more. Dylan, Van Morrison and Neil Young to name but three from the "rock" genre. Possibly Lou Reed too.
per allmusic.com, Lou's actually released twenty studio albums as a solo artist, plus the 4 VU albums (theres also a fifth album which was released as part of a boxed set a couple of decades later). Add a couple of VU live albums and about five or six live albums as a solo artist and it seems that if the figure of 22 Stones original studio albums is correct, he's put out more original material than they have.
From what I can see, Neil Young has released 32 albums of new material, excluding live albums and the various CSNY albums
Dylan has also released 32 'new' albums, plus a 3-CD boxed set of unreleased material (Bootleg Series Vol.1-3) in 1991.
Johnny Cash's total of studio albums seems to clock in at around 80. Willie Nelson around the same, and slightly more. Sinatra did about 70, although its maybe worth mentioning that when he formed Reprise records in the 60's he re-recorded a lot of his older material.
