Altamont Photos - Any more ?

Hi all,

Just been reading E Russell's Let It Bleed book (the affordable version), and I see a handful of "new" Altamont photos.
But what I am surprised with is the lack of more photos from this infamous concert.
You can see in Ethan's photos countless people in the front rows taking photos yet all we (at least me) have seen are the usual photos that many of us know of.
You can only imagine all the other shots from the crowd who were further back from the stage.

Ethan does say that he had problems taking photos of this show from behind the stage, but you'd think there would be more photos out there..?

Does anyone have any "rare" photos of this concert they wish to share?

Does anyone have photos of the pre-Stones acts? There are even less photos of these bands...

Many thanks,
ER

Just got this book. Wish I could say I'm impressed but it seems like a lot of out-take photos with a few real good ones. Also, some of these pics are in the new Ya-Ya's package. Overall it's weak. I'm sure there are more Altamont photos that will be sparingly released over years to come. Same strategy... string us along.

you're right about "out-take" photos. Curious as to why he published some of the blurred photos..?!

There is also a lack of MSG photos and alot of the early Tour photos.

There are some classic shots on the other hand...

The only Altamont photos I hadn't seen are the pic of Mick & Keith as they are heading up to the stage, one of the tent where they were tuning up and a few of the crowd....

now on a side topic, we now know there are 2 seperate audience tapes.
1. the usual tape we know of which is on many boots
2. a new tape that was available on DIME which was a guy from a local radio station going to the concert and recording it, then broadcasting it on a radio station...amazing.
Some of these pics show the 2 different tapers...are these the 2 sources?

There's also a nice shot of the blonde taper on p197 of Ethan Russell's book.

You are quite welcome, Eleanor. I also found these photographs on photographer Robert Altman's website, which may be of interest.

Thanks, bigtyke66. I have five or six recordings of this concert (some of which cost me quite a bit of $$$) and I believe yours is the best sounding of the lot!!!

I always wondered that there are not any fans on RS forums who attended Altamont and who could tell some stories from this show or post pics they have taken. Where are they all? Too old for the Interweb?

maybe too stoned to know they went ?

There is one member here who went and has told of some tales of the concert, in particular how loud Keith was during JJF.
