In the autumn of 2006 I was at a CD market. I traded some boring CDs to a CD sampler called "Red Line 1994 CD Sampler". On it there was a version of "Brown Sugar" I had never heard before. It's from the studio. No sax solo, but there's a guitar solo instead. The "Yeah" in the end by Keith isn't here either. I have "The Black Box" bootleg, but it's not on there either as far as I remember. Can anybody tell me something about this version? What bootleg's is it on and such. Surely I haven't trembled over something new?

Wow, what a great song. I know the die-hards label it a warhorse, but it is such a great song. Thanks for this alternate version. Any others would be most appreciated.

That's a different version isn't it? The Clapton version is from Keith's birthday. The original studio version is from Muscle Shoals Studios. This version, I have no idea where comes from. Anybody knows?

I think the version you talk about has a Keith solo....keith doing some of his usual simple bends - yes I have it...somewhere.

The Clapton version has the slide guitar with sax...and keith high in the vocal mix.

Ok, i didn't even see the part where you can download the version from you send it. I just guessed :-)

Kent, how much did you pay for that CD ?
I got it for free in 1994, all you had to do was to send a letter to "Red Line" in Italy, and they'd send you this compilation.

those are not mutually exclusive. it is a GREAT song. it is also a "warhorse".

I traded some CDs for it. The Steel Wheels picture disc interview CD (Absolute crap), a Beatles at the BBC single (Baby, It's You) and lastly a Love Me Do CD single.
