Just got back from a performance @ Lupos Heartbreak Hotel in Providence RI . What a great show !! 5 bands . 4 hours of really good music AND go go dancers !!
If The Dolls are coming anywhere near you at all , I really recommend you catch the show . Also on the bill were the Supersuckers . They were phenominal !! I comented the Dolls better be on tonight or they were sure to be shown up by these guys . They're touring together for a while . Catch it if you can . It was only $ 20.00 admission !!!!

You can't but Steve Conte is a damn fine guitar player.

Seem them in Bochum/Germany and was very impressed. Good guitar players and good drummer - but I had to look at Davif´d Johansen all the time! He´s so damn great!!!

And he plays in a few good movies!

f.e.:

CANDY MOUNTAIN

(with appearances of Tom Waits, Dr.John a.o.)

Once again, I'll throw an endorsement out for the Arthur Kane documentary "New York Doll."

A fine, fine film that requires no prior interest in the Dolls OR EVEN ROCK AND ROLL!

In fact, rent this and watch it with your family on Thanksgiving Day--even your mom will like it!

It's really great.

A couple of years ago my family watched the John Ford film The Grapes of Wrath with Henry Fonda on Thanksgiving....a classic film that proved that even a studio (Darryl Zanuck's 20th Century Fox) could produce a work of Art.

After watching the struggles of the Joad family during the Great Depression, do you think we felt thankful for all the things we took for granted?

You bet. It put everything into focus. We weren't just watching a great film, but we had a great moment TOGETHER.

What time did the Dolls go on? I'm going to see them Tuesday November 28 in Charleston S. C. at the Music Farm. If you're from around here and reading this--you better be there!

They'll be in Atlanta the following night at the Variety Playhouse where Patti Smith played last year.

The Dolls came on about 11:15 - 11:30 . Can't say for sure . I'm retired and don't wear a watch ...

If you're going in DC, check out the Hall Monitors who won the local contest for the first warmup slot. They wouldn't sound out of place on Nuggets.

Myself, I thought the Chesterfield Kings stole the show. To me, the Dolls didn't come off as the Dolls, but rather David Jo Sings the Songs of the New York Dolls.

Yes, New York Doll was a surprisingly good film.

Kinda cool outside (about 40) but supposed to warm up to around 70. Should be a great Thanksgiving Day. Pull for my Bulldogs to beat Georgia Tech on Saturday!

So, LK, based on your other post, I guess you're not going to Japan to see the Whacker, I mean, Wacko!

I was very cynical about the whole reunion and the new album. Like someone else just said "How can you replace JT or Jerry Nolan?" But I was proven totally completely wrong. The new album is one of the finest rock albums as of late. Sylvain (always my least fave Doll) has outdone himself and DJ is tops. But Steve Conte is the real surprise. He is not replaciong JT; he is Steve Conte and rocks really well IMO. They are coming next week in my town and I will be there.
I just saw "NY Doll" yesterday, and yes it was good. Kane is the way I rememebred. A goof.
