When I signed up I lived in Japan. Whale is an endangered species there. In between all the japanese that's how I felt sometimes.
Afterwards I had a small bite of it once. Quite OK really.
Maybe I should change to bluefin tuna now.

Funny Deltics, for all those years I always though a Helter Skelter was an old attraction on a fair were they ride on a motorcycle in a round cage (don't know how they called that one?)

The one you posted is not kown in my country

We call that "The Wall of Death"

It's suppose to be the name of a roller coaster or giant slide at an amusement park in Blackpool, England

It's a large spiral slide that can be found at most funfairs in the UK not just Blackpool.
You climb the stairs, which are inside the structure, and once at the top you take a hessian or coconut mat which you sit on and then slide down the slide.

When I get to the bottom
I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn
and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again

"Hillside Blues" is the best blues number ever recorded (IMO)

That's the main reason why I picked it as my new user name. Used my real name for 3 years.

I was born James Fenner Douglas in Hamilton, Ont. in 1973.
I use this name in other forums on other subjects, and jamesfdouglas is also my hotmail, etc, name. People in my life don't call me James though, I've gone by 'Jamie' since I can remember, just 'Jamie Douglas'.

My friends call me that because it's an anagram (?) for brew. Only a letter away from my real name. Plus I use it for every board I've ever joined.

I registered at IORR on a Saturday, recovering from shock. The previous night I had returned to the flat in Paris where I was living only to find that the craftsmen who had been refurbishing my flat had locked me out. In the early hours of the morning a man with, let's just say, a liberal attitude toward personal hygiene arrived and opened the door by drilling through the lock, thus destroying not only the door but also (forever) my relationship with the neighbours. My screen name is a humble homage to this brutal man.

Mine came from the movie Blazing Saddles. I also own the screen name of Lapetomane which you have to google to understand that one. Very much tongue in cheek names.

I've seen the film, starring Leonard Rossiter in the title role.

I certainly wouldnt want to be 'tongue in cheek' with that character!

Following a somewhat freer existence in a previous user-guise I came firmly back to earth and have been confined within the strictures of this structure, which seriously lacks the Fifth Element to make it Whole and to make it (feel like) Home.

It's a Song Title.

Obviously some terms got double meanings, others different ones in different
countries as I´ve learned recently...

If I had known more about the meanings of Short Of Funny ( thanks Nicos )
before I picked it...

I just remembered it from Rip This Joint, after that I noticed with the help of IORR members it was used
by other artists as well.

Don't know if this has been discussed before, but I was wondering why you guys picked your particular forum name and (in some less obvious cases) what does it mean?

I picked the name Buddy Young because my real name is Boudewijn de Jong. With a little fantasy Buddy Young could be the international translation for my real name :-)

And for example, there's another Dutch user on the board called 'slasausjes', which means salad sauces. Always wondered why he chose that name haha.

Let me know!

is this your website?

Midnight Toker- The Midnight Tokers was the name of the first rock band I played guitar in while in high school, many years ago. We sucked as a band.

BTW, none of us ever inhaled.

Mine is based on a Keithism. After going to several Stones shows where, during band introductions, Keith would say: "its good to be here. Its good to be anywhere". I decided I liked it. The whole qoute was too long to use as a forum name so I chose the second half.

well it's my name and i just wanted to be straight. My more common nickname of The Plexiglass or simply Plexi was inspired by a discusssion of the set list from the Boston fall 06 show when people were raving over how great it was with one person going so far as to attibute the choice of songs in the set list to the Plexiglass itself and that the Plexiglass must be of a divine nature. The set list, of course, is written on tablets of Plexiglass. I saw the light and decided the Plexiglass must be divine and have since become its principal adherent, chief priest, and prophet.

Well, it's a great Beatles song, who doesn't know that, right? It's suppose to be the name of a roller coaster or giant slide at an amusement park in Blackpool, England (have never been there). The rest of the HS story is suppose to be that McCartney had just read an interview with the Who's Pete Townshend and he was going on and on about how the Who had just recorded the loudest, nastiest, raunchiest, out-of-control, piece of music EVER (I Can See For Miles) so Macca put the magazine down and said, "Oh yeah Pete?"..... Not for long. And HS does out do I Can See For Miles IMHO.... I don't know why I picked it, very superficial reasons I'm sure (playing in the background at the moment or something).

The best user name EVER on IORR was "some stupid with a flare gun" (lyrics from the 70's Deep Purple hit "Smoke on the Water" ) Who thinks of brilliant stuff like that? I 'm serious, what a great user name !!!

McCartney often tells that tale. Yet the first recorded version of HS
is the slow, somewhat boring version found on Anthology 3 (the vocals are good, though). The album version was cut about two months later with a different arrangement. So I don't think HS was written to out-do the Who.
Maybe he though a different arrangement would do the trick.
If it was See For Miles, then it was over a year old by that point,
as HS was recut in September 1968 (and the first session where
Chris Thomas acted as producer).
