Zero ABB tunes at Beacon

Looking at the setlists from The Beacon, I notice that not one song from ABB was played. Given the unique venue, if they did choose to play one, I would think that Back of My Hand or Laugh I Nearly Died would have been a good fit.

What would have been the tune from ABB to play at The Beacon, if any?

Back of my Hand and LIND would have been perfect, good choice.

But hey, at least they're finally touring behind Undercover.

Either of the ones you mentioned would have been great, would have been nice to hear more newer tunes but I can't complain after hearing some of those songs last night. The Stones have such a great catelog of music to play that they can do different shows like this all the time and make all their fans happy. She Was Hot sounded great last night!!!

ABB is saying goodbye, maybe they can dust SOL or RJ for the next shows but we won't hear nothing from it after this year.

Laugh, I nearly died would have been excellent for Beacon

when Mick made his not so subtle war comment, i thoughgt he might break out one of the politcal tunes--Sweet Neo Con or Dangerous beauty. But this was clearly not part of the Bigger Bang tour, this was a Scorcese event.

That darned Scorcese. When the band did "Back of My Hand" at the Hollywood Bowl it was a work of art.

Keep in mind re the DVD it's the editors who really have the imagination and artistry to make it great, and I'm sure Mick and Keith will have worthwhile input.

Jagger made a war comment? What was it?

frankly, i'm just happy they didn't waste valuable beacon time with dogs like ONNYA or RJ. The excitement and energy level never waned. Had a She Saw Me Coming been performed to a reasonably powerful level, that's about the only song from ABB that would have been worthy of the event, IMO.

he joked about how much had changed sine their last theater show in NY in '64. "tickets were $2.50, burgers were 19 cents...there was a war going on"

Considering the young[er] audience filled with off-the-rack modellos and NY hipsters the most logical ABB track would have been Rain Fall Down.

The ones I would have loved to have performed? The 2 masterpieces on ABB - either Laugh, I nearly Died...or Dangerous Beauty.

Diamond rings, Vaseline, you gave me disease, well, I lost a lot of love over you.

Yeah, he made the exact same joke twice, on Sunday and Tuesday. Felt kinda weird.

That war joke seems a little flat to me. Maybe Mick hired the same joke-writer as John Kerry.

...well not only that, but the fact that Scorsese has the 5 best cameramen in the business supposedly filming, and all these incredible production people assisting him and is filming miles of film, and that the distribution rights in the USA and internationally are already sold and delivered means this is a big production. They are sparing no expense, and I've read that this is going to be the definitive filming of the band, or as definitive as Gimme Shelter only on a grander scale and similar to the Dylan film Scorsese just did.....the only mystery apparently is how much the band is going to open up about their history/themselves etc...or if they are going to prefer it to be a simple documentary of the tour.

I was really amazed, how open the Stones were during the Licks tour, for According to The Rolling Stones, so I think we have a surprise ahead of us.
Nevertheless, I don't think No Direction Home was such a big definate movie. Of course it's a great watch though. The Last Waltz would be a better example of Definate Movie....in addition to 25x5, if Stones called it a day when Wyman did, that is.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...got it. Kind of a lame joke. I do like the SuperBowl line he used in Detroit. "We could have done this at Superbowl 1...good things come to those who wait."

Since this is the 3rd leg of the "Bigger Bang Tour" in the States, they should have played the entire album by now, not 8 of the 18 (including the 2 bonus tracks) songs on the album. If they're going to call it this name, they should promote more of the album.

i understand your displeasure with the stones not playing ABB but lets face it.......it sucks and it doesn't hold up over time. but hey thats just my feeling. personally i dont care if they dont play anything off ABB i rather hear something off steel wheels or BTB. but hey im 21, i could be wrong

I don't really think that the Beacon shows was regarded as ABB shows. They were more like retrospective shows. Just for Martin Scorsese. As far as I know Marty will do the (Somewhat) retrospective concert film, and we will also get Austin on DVD (Read Chuck's diary).
