I was to meet with Mick later in the evening to discuss the Austin, TX and NY Beacon Theater show set lists, so I spent quite a lot of time preparing for that. I went over all my lists…and a wad of lists that Michael Cohl had passed on to me. One was basically all the DVD or VHS releases the band has ever done…another had a list of songs that the band has never performed live, and another had a list of songs that had rarely ever been performed or filmed.

I went in to see Mick at 7, and we looked at all the lists we’d made and discussed the situation. There is talk about a package that will include some shows we’ve already done on the tour and adding Austin to the package. Then of course Martin Scorsese will film the Beacon shows for a separate release…so we had a lot to go over. I presented him with a second draft for both Austin and the Beacon, and he seemed to be pretty happy with it, but still wanted to look at some more options. In any case we’re making progress and I think we’ll settle on something solid soon.

Some interesting bits and pieces again -

....it is

Re: from chuck

I don't think so - not until you start going to over 20 shows on a single tour.Four shows over the span of a 15 month tour is reasonable.

I think that it's worth noting that now even Cohl is stepping in to push for songs that have never been performed, songs that haven't been released on video, and rare songs.

A package like Four Licks would be awesome. Very expensive but totally worth it!

I bought my Four Flick set for $20 the day it came out. I thought it was a great deal!! It looks like we have 2 DVD releases to look forward to next year, and also maybe that speculated album that Keith mentioned too.

i heard from a band member that they will be filming a separate DVD so i bet that's what all the extra decision making is about.

yes, one for NY and one for other venues (maybe a compilation of songs from different venues)

So now it starts to look like we'll get two Stones live releases next year. One FF, Biggger Bang style and one Scorsese-docu / incl. Beacon shows.

Mmmhhh, could have been worse! To be released in spring? I don't see them finishing it before christmas.

Am I the only one who's starting to love Chuck over these diary entries?

JJK: yes, at my house. Anyway, they've released more than one video (and now they're dvds) per tour before - wasn't there the IMAX film and an edited version of the Atlantic city show? Was that the only one? I recall seeing vids hawked at a show (VL? B2B?), then a 'more official' concert doc post tour.

Atlantic City was never released on video in any form

There were however two concert videos from the Voodoo Lounge tour - the Giants Stadium one early in the tour which was sold at the concerts, and the commercially released edit of the Miami PPV show from three months later

Yes, excellent video, available on VHS during the Voodoo Lounge Tour
Great picture and sound, rainy show.

the transfer on DVD is widely available. You should be able to DL from somewhere, maybe Rocks Off, or to set up a trade.
