About 35 or 36 years ago there was a syndicated TV special that was a documentary about Creedence in concert. I remember it aired a couple of times on a local L.A. station.

They showed a cool clip of Booker T.& the M.G.s--the opening act--doing "Time is Tight."

There was also a scene where a fan was sticking his head inside the limo that the Creedence boys were sitting in, and offering them a bottle (I think it was wine).

In a bold move (that anticipated "I'm Straight" Jonathan Richman) they turned the guy down, and told him they "weren't into that" etc., which was sort of un-cool by rock standards at the time, although pretty safe for prime-time broadcast TV.

Later Fogarty complained that the other guys were partying in their rooms BEHIND HIS BACK, and cited that as a reason for the band's breakup

That footage sounds dynamite - Creedence don't get their due.

Fogerty in particular, the amount of absolutely classic material that man wrote is staggering when compared to the amount of respect he gets these days.

In my opinion, he is so superior as a writer to so many sacred cows/sacred herds of cattle, it's not even funny.

Would love to see that footage, do either of you remember the name of the documentary?

We're not sure we like what you're implying. Let's just say you shouldn't be walking through any meadows anytime soon.

Seriously - "sacred herds of cattle" - that is hilarious. I'll have to remember that one.

Wow ONNYA, I can see the top of McCartney's head poking out behind the herd.
And I think that's Elton John in his Crocodile costume (that greenish thing sticking up on the left). Amazing photo.

Was this taken at the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame All-Star jam?

So many delicious Sacred Cows to roast & devour!

It was taken at the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame cafe, shortly before lunch.

The special is called "In Concert" and don't be surprised if Concorde/Fantasy brings it out on DVD in the next year or so now that Fogerty is back on the label.

Cool, thanks Rocky.

By the way, can you still roll massive hash joints whilst playing the congas?

Always thought that was a great talent - any time any band I was in were trying out hand percussionists, we asked if they could do that. Alas, the closest we ever came was a guy who would smoke massive hash joints AND THEN play the congas.

I wish I were Rocky Dijon (at the moment anyway), but I'm actually just Bill Maynard from Ohio. Mild-mannered contract weasel by day, Stones-Kinks-Fogerty-Knopfler loving audiophile by night.

No such luck. Work in Cleveland, though.
