At first I didn't liked it, but Mick is a complete showman he totally mastered it now and it's like he's been without a mic forever.

next up - Keith will demonstrate his mastery of the headset mic on his next rendition of YGTS!

This will not happen as Keith needs the microphone stand to stand up.

this head set/moving stage business follows a tradition of controversial stage props. LIke the inflatable penis, the cherry picker and the cage.

Blame Kate Bush! Seriously. Apparently she was first to use the "headset mic" on her tour in 1979. She actually invented the bloody thing for stage use so she could dance and sing at the same time. Maybe someone will prove me wrong, but I saw this on a Kate Bush documentary.

Mick's problem with using the headset seems to be that he doesn't really know what to do with his hands so he waves and wiggles like crazy. He's a bit more under control when using the normal mic...

Apart from that the headset tempts the user to fiddle with it all the time, so you get the impression that it doesn't work properly most of the time. (maybe it DOESN'T work properly most of the time, who knows....

Very distracting for the performer, very disturbing for the audience, IMHO....

When I think of headsets I think of boy bands and Britney Spears. Holding a mike just seems to be a part of live rock n' roll. Hell, Iggy still uses a corded mike and look what that bastard can still do!

Freakin' technolofy.
I agree with Glimmer Twin 81, headsets are sissy.
Be a man and hold your own, uh, mic

Hey now, Buddy Holly himself wore a headset on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Of course he did it so he could move around w/his guitar more, but still... Buddy Holly wasn't a sissy.

Really?
That must have been a seriously old-school head set. I'd like to see a clip of that.
